Replica Tachometers and Bezels for your Cruiser.

These are modified Autometer Gauges with custom faces and cnc machined bezels. The bezels are cut from 5/8" aluminum plate with a final thickness of 1/2". They are anodized then professionally painted with PPG Delstar Acrylic Enamel. They are sealed with custom neoprene gaskets and come with stainless steel mounting hardware. I used the highest quality materials on these, aluminum, stainless steel, high grade neoprene, and professional paint. These are not rattle canned behind a garage and it shows. Here is a link to a thread on these. BJ42, HJ47 Tachometer Bezel Dimensions - https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/536009-bj42-hj47-tachometer-bezel-dimensions.html

The price on these will be $365 shipped in the lower 48 for the gas versions and $395 for the diesel version. There will be an extra charge for 24 volt versions. Please PM me or email at fj40tach@gmail.com to order. Some of the gauges will have to be be ordered and these will be assembled to order and as such will not ship immediately. Depending on gauge availability there will be about a 2 week timeline for delivery with an outside chance of up to 6 weeks.

I will now be offering a kit so you can assemble your own gauge and bezel. The bezel will come anodized and ready for you to paint. The kit will include the necessary hardware and gaskets to assemble and mount the unit as well as your choice of gauge face. It does not include the gauge, you will have to provide your own, autometer 2888, 2890, or 2891. You may need additional parts based on your individual install, year, mounting location, 12 or 24 volt, etc. These additional parts are not included but I will let you know where to get them. The price for the kit will be $165 shipped in the lower 48. These are in stock and will ship within a couple days of ordering.

Thanks to all of you who helped me out on these with your suggestions and contacts. Amaurer especially with the plastic casting to get me going.

I have, it doesn't look like something that can be done, at least not easily.

Have you tried opening the tach up to see if you can just rotate the internals 180°

Email sent. Old thread, hopefully still making them. Thanks!

What would you need from me? I can send you the entire tach. Would you be able to mold up the back side as well?
If you could send me the whole thing I think I can figure it out. I could design it in CAD so it could hold the factory tach. But I think it would be better to have it designed to hold a standard type aftermarket tach. Then just apply a new face to the tach and your done.

I have another idea I'll post up in regards to the light switch issue. :)

Managed to get an hour or so in tonight.

Welded up the spot welds on windshield brackets, drilled a 1/4” hole, cleaned them up and painted. Using the 79 firewall I have I measured off the dash holes and references where the brackets were. After marking, drilled and tapped with 6mm x 1.00, used a wide head machine screw to mount. Took the old brackets off the windshield frame. Using the hold down bolt I thread that in and used that to mark where they should go on the windshield frame, worked very well. Drilled, tapped mounted. Re-installed the dash. Cranked in the hold down bolts in the brackets. Factory as I can make it.

Matt

If any of our overseas friends have their eye on the ash tray assembly from an HJ47…I’m in need of one. I need the ash tray and the assembly it slides into, like the pic.

I was looking at the radio area tonight. I ordered this brand new pioneer radio about 12 years ago, talk about putting the cart ahead of the horse! Never even opened.

Most, if not all radios, have a standard 2 1/8” x 7” opening, like the pic on the scrap 79 dash, with that insert. The opening on the hj47 dash panel measures about 1 3/4” x 6 7/8”. I’m wondering if they make a radio to fit that? Possibly blue tooth or something but old school?
