It was very minimal before and during the 100's in the Hills, but after last weekend when I turn left at all, my front drivers side wheel? Squeaks like crazy. I say wheel because it has the obvious going around sound. It doesn't sound like a spring or something like that. It happens a lot worse when it's hard on the brakes and the turn starts while still braking. My rotors look clean. Anybody have idea what this might be?

I was hoping it has something to do with going thru water. I haven't had a chance to grease the fittings since i have had it.

Hopefully I can get under there tomorrow night or Sunday.

That's the sound my lower ball joint was making right before it got super loud. Anyone who rode near me at 100s in the hills can attest to that. I just bought moog ball joints off amazon and had a local shop install them yesterday. About $280 total for both sides.

I remember what yours was sounding like. Mine isn't that bad at all. And only happens when I turn left regardless suspension flex. Still haven't had time to look at it. Hopefully I get a chance this week. Not that I would have any idea what I am looking at!

Just to refresh this thread, because I am horrible about doing maint. on my vehicle. Talking with the guys at work, they are actually real mechanics, they think it's either the hubs/bearings, or CV axles. I might skip out on the family Wal-Mart trip tonight after to work to jack up the truck and give my wheel a wiggle to see if it lose...I think I might be hoping for an easy bearing replacement? They say if the whell and tire wiggle vertically, it's the bearings. I hope it's this easy! I hate not knowing what I am talking about!

Make sure you take a peak at the brake pads while your poking around.

Grab the tire at 3&9 and wiggle it side to side. If there is any play, likely loose wheel bearing.

Put your shoulder under the tire and push up on the suspension and see if you can feel any free play, for possible worn ball joints.

At what miles / level of use are people replacing ball joints typically?

Got it up and there is play at 12 an 6 o'clock. A little play at 3 and 9 o'clock. But it feels like it is probably me actually turning the wheel instead of the steering wheel doing it. That's for the play at 3 and 9. I am positive the bearings are bad. Just don't know about the 3 and 9 o'clock wiggling. Didn't take the wheel off, probably should have to check the pads. Guess I'll order up the new wheel bearing kit from Crusier Outfitters!

If you just sit it truck and turn wheel side to side, do you hear it? If so, I'm guessing lower ball joint. Check the boots for any years or not firing correctly. If that is case, water and other crop gets in there and goes to town on the joint and all the grease gets out.

The guys at work are going to help me look at it again on Monday. We will probably take the wheel off and take a look at the brakes too. There is a popping every once in a while when I turn. I am pretty sure that the bearing are toast. Worried the CV axle will need to be replaced soon also since they have been slowly slinging grayish grease from the boots even though the boots are intact. Hopefully the ball joints aren't smoked either.

No matter what else we find Monday, I'm pretty sure I will be doing the bearings at the least.

After using Cruiser Outfitter's wheel replacement set, and following plenty of instructions, I replaced the bearings in both front wheels. I cleaned the crap out of my brake rotors and pads too. Turns out that the bearings were most likely fine, and it's been the brakes doing the squeaking the whole time. I have actually created a worse condition! I used A LOT of marine grade grease on the bearings, and EVERYWHERE inside the hub with shiny metal showing. There was a bunch still left on the old stuff, but the grease was VERY dark brown in color! Races and bearings looked fine coming out. I think that somehow, my brakes are actually too clean and need some brake lube to stop the squeaking...I'll try again tomorrow!

Did you put your old pads and rotors back on?

You might want to pull your pads and take the shims off. Try Using some disc brake quiet on the shims and back of the brake pads.

Yeah old brake stuff went back on. Everything looked fine on them. I'm going to go back in tomorrow and lube them up and see if that works.

Did the OP ever figure out what was causing the squeak? Was it brakes? I have the same problem. Can't hear it with the window up so I don't know how long it's been occurring but was going through the drive through the other day and noticed the wheel squeaks when turning left and right. I think it's just the right one. It sounds like someone is jumping up and down on a bed if I go back and forth...:D Also occurs when I get out of the truck and shake it so maybe it's suspension related?

We're about a year in on a OME 2" medium/level lift. Just put on an ARB combo and winch and cranked the T bars a month ago.

Bearings?

I don't think the CV's are leaking but with snow and mud I haven't had a chance to get a real good look.

Sounds like lower ball joints. Symptoms include a pretty noticeable squeaking when they need serviced or replaced.
