Half of Yarnell is gone and 19 hotshot crew members confirmed dead.

Very sad, this and a smaller one was sitting on Saturday morning over the hill. I talked with the pilot and they were waiting for something to do.

smells like rain here in Fountain Hills now - none on the ground, but windy

I just found out this morning that one of my tech helpers knew three of the deceased firefighters real well.

he just saw them last weekend :frown:

This was a terrribly sad event. These firefighteres were all from the local Prescott fire depatment. Only Hot Shot Crew in the country like that. Mostly local guys. I have not heard any detail yet, but I do know that my brother was working the road block on the north side of town, He is in Search and Rescue. His son was working to evacuate the residents in Yarnell. He is a county Deputy. I have not been able to talk with either one yet to check on them and ge more details about the fire and the Hot Shot crew. I am sure they knew many of them. My heart goes out to the residents of Yarnell and even more to the families of the Granite Mountain Hot Shots. RIP John

Looks like the same one parked at Morman Lake on Friday. It was with a smaller as well. Both were gone when we passed through later in the day.

Same guys, they said the had a little fire SE earlier in the AM but nothing more just yet. That was about noon on Saturday. :frown:

I heard the logistics group in charge of this fire didnt use thier rescources and couldve prevented this tragedy. There was no coordination where these guys couldve been saved. Rumored to be an internal investigation seperately by both the State and the Forest service is underway.

Wont bring them back but maybe can help in the future.

One of them was the boyfriend of one of my Hygienists, and several were of course very close friends of theirs...very very sad!!

Murf, there is a lot of community involvement to what happened. Im just thinking out loud but is there a chance we pay our respect by all meeting at your location? I could tie in our radio station and get them out there for an hour, letting everyone know that they could stop by and donate to a non-profit firefighter organization like "Fallen" plus mention our contribution. Of course, we would all have to break away for about an hour too. Again, I'm thinking out loud and would love everyone's feedback. I will work my tail off to make this happen if everyone would be willing to contribute and participate. I'm thinking Friday morning?

Absolutely! Talk to your station and see if they can. PM me as soon as you find out so I can put my GM in the loop.
