ISO a trailer

The plan is it will be setup like the before pixs with a table up with booth seating with the converter and inverter under them ,a front a shelf above that. On the left wall will be a cabinets above the sink with the stove next to it and the refrigerator under the stove . The right side will have a lower cabinet with the heater in it and a upper cabinet .
The back bed is being bumped up to a queen sized bed as the double was too small . The water tank under it and tons of storage too .

Right now I'm waiting on some flexible PVC reverse cove molding to start putting the front/roof/rear wall on . It staples to the side walls under the roof and hides all my mistakes
Im going to put the front on to just about where the roof starts curving back down in the rear so I can work in it , build and hang the cabinets and be able to not have to work through just the door opening.

I was really bummed not to be able to work on it the last couple of weeks

Back at it again
I got my cove molding stuff and started on putting the front back together . I was only able to do the 1st one as I'm waiting for my old man to finish up some wall ties up since he wanted to help and gives him something to do .
I want to do another 2 then start on the benches and front table .
I found some flooring called Marmoleum that has all the cool older colors from the 50s and 60s that Cruiser likes. I called them as I'm finding it very hard to get Formica in a color that will match anything I put on the floor . Their sheet goods can be used as countertops handles 195 deg in all of the colors they have in tiles too .

got a little more done this weekend .
Framed out the seats and mounted the table to make sure everything is lining up right so far . Next will be trimming out the seats with paneling and installing the next end/roof panel and then trim the front window out .

The bending part was a bitch and I really did like how it came out as it was too sharp and the backing of the panel started to crack so I used a knife to score it to help cut down on it trying to split .
The spots that look like they will be a problem will be getting a shelf/cabinet combo so I'm hoping it will hide the opps .

I fiber glassed the area that was cracking on the outside part so it should keep it from getting any worse and hopefully keep the inside from cracking any more then the one spot that is hinkey .

Great thread, this is pretty much identicle to the 1957 Mrecury Tear drop we had. I didn't tkae it quit this far, just stripped the interior and re-built the cabinetry where needed.

One comment, I wish I had run the flooring up the front in the area under the dinette. That sloping part of the paneling got scuffed up pretty fast.

One feature we had was a gas lamp over the dinette. It was great, very bright and it would warm the trailer up pretty fast on a cold evening/morning. Plus you run it as much as you wanted and not worry about draining the battery.

I Think the front wall and the floor will be OK . It has a small step there plus I'm thinking of adding a small boxed in area so I have a wire chase between the two seats .
I also have a propane Humphies lamp that came in it that will be going back in after its cleaned up and ready for it .
I'm going to be doing all the lights in LEDs on the inside and outside to cut down on battery drain at night. I'm also using 2 group 31 gel cell deep cycle to run it when not on shore power .

This has been a great project so far and the Cruiser has found the material she wants to do seat covers in , table tops and floor.

I hope to have it done for spring camping

Two 12V or two 6V in series?

On our last RV I used two 6V in series because the total amp Hours came out higher. The 6V are slightly taller than the 12V and (IIRC) 10% more capacity.

still messing with the trailer .
Over the last weekend I started to pull out the goodies in the old pop up so I can mock up cabinets.
All the plastic cover parts for the converter , speakers , Tstat got put in the dishwasher (Cruiser didnt have to do the dishes last night )and the 12v outlets got a coat of plastic paint taupe colored to make all the trims match since they ran the gambit from black,brown dark tan and light gray,
It would have looked like a playschool toy box threw up in the trailer
I'm been feeling like trash the last few days and being called out at 12:30 am till 4 am pushed me to use a sick day or I'll never get better . Since all I feel like is watching paint dry that what today will be , spend 3 mins painting then sit and relax and let it dry .
If I'm feeling better this weekend will be good for garage work with the nice storm comming

Heres a few more of what got done this weekend .
I 1st picked up the tools, parts and trash. It was getting to be a mess ,couldn't find stuff tripping ,and banging into things etc. Took a good part of Saturday as I was still shaking my cold
With that done I went from 0 tape measures while working to 5, a bunch of screw drivers,driver and drill bits plus all the stuff I've bought 2 or more times while working .
One of the biggest things found was floor space

I mounted lower panels ,the converter under the seat, bottom of the upper cabinet and speaker grills. Test fitted the heater and started building ,test fitting and installing the bed frame with the mattress . I was going to use one of the mattress out of the pop up but I got a great deal on a reg queen as it was a clearance unit that was missing the box spring, unable to be flipped (quilted on just the top and sides)and a discoed model .

One nice thing is I wont have to buy and of the overpriced RV bedding and will have more support then the 2" foam
The rear window may need to be moved up some since the mattress is thicker even though I lowered the support frame about 3".

weekend of 2/14/10

slow weekend
I finished building the bed frame . After looking at the furnace fresh air intake/ exhaust ducting and seeing that $60+ shipping for a shorter one was not interesting, budget wise I took out the metal chop saw and cut it down and then use a hand seamier, block of wood and a hammer to put the bends in it .
Came out prefect and only cost 20 mins of time
I then made the mounting stand for the furnace lined it all up then marked and cut the hole for the inlet/outlet. I test fit my modded ducting thru the wall.
1000% better then the fire trap unit I pulled out .

This week comming up I'm "on call" for work so not much will be done but some old cruiser parts will be going to new homes so I'll have more $$$ for supply's

Stuff that has been done this week, made the cabinet frame for the heater and got some pixs of the modded fresh air and exhaust port

some other stuff I did , like made the box for the 3 way refrigerator, cut a very large hole in the side of the trailer, bent up some sheet metal to line the box so its waterproof and air proof from the outside . The way it was in the popup it just sat on the the floor and was getting wet all the time thru the vents and the floor was swelling up and rotted so I did it alittle better

I hit the home depot at 6am this morning before the Cruiser had to leave for work to pickup supplies ( I really need to dig her ScionTC out of the snow cocoon that its been in for over 2 weeks so I can get my van out and get my 80 back)
Got home tonight and finished framing together a cook station .
Its now starting to look a little more like a trailer and less like a RV supply store threw up in my garage
