With your mad Skillz Koff ol' boy...wouldn't be easier to just build a new one?

Well looking at this ,yes it would have been easier to build a new one. Taking this one all apart and seeing what worked and what didn't. I feel its a learning experience and If I ever do another later down the road I will do a new one from the ground up .
Almost all the skin off now and 1x2 walls are really cool

More progress

The 3rd pix shows just how well the heater vent pipe was put at the hole in the wall not even thru it.

Nice

Tomorrow will be a cleaning up day getting everything into some kind game plan since I'm almost ready to start the prep to putting it back together. I'm hoping by next weekend things will start putting new wood in
I need to hit HomeDepot or Lowes for some "oops" paint to cover everything up this week before the weekend

Looks better than what I thought...at least you're going have the piece of mind knowing everything that could be or is wrong is at least addressed.

Don't forget to use lots of that PL Polyurethene Construction Adhesive when putting it all back together. That stuff in like iron when it sets up.

Good luck

Its going to get glued, screwed, stapled and nailed back together when I'm done ;)

Man. In the years I have been on here I am always impressed by the skills some possess, the challenges they undertake and, above all, the time they make to undertake them!

I have not idea WTF I'm doing, but hell I'm making it look good from the outside looking in :hillbilly:
Its going to get just a little bit of a crown on the roof and a few more rafters so water cant sit and pool on the roof and help with any snow load as I think thats what the roof rot came from .
I did start looking at the axle and this things got a square axle tube, looks like a old car front drums 5x5.5lug pattern but 12" tires. The hub/dust cap is screwed on and not sure about the electric brakes
The more I look at it the more I think its going to get pitched as its just too much a odd ball and I cant even find a spare rim
I think a 3500# unit will be ordered since the price between a 2000# is minimal and the larger bearings will stay cooler when running smaller 13" wheels

floor painted with some $14 a quart paint I picked up a HD for $1 each since it was Oops paint :D
Started removing the stringers and old paneling so I can 1st add 5/8" plywood to pad the walls and give me something I can hang cabinets and other stuff then the 1/8 inch paneling that held it before. Plus this will stiffen up the walls and make it that the windows are flush and wont have some screwed up looking molding it had before.

and look out its on some of those 6 ton HF jackstands  ;)

I got more done this weekend
Its starting to come together . since this thing was built when a 2x4 was 2"x4" I need to make stuff up and my old man got a thickness planer , hes tried to plan a couple of nails so theres a groove but thats cool (at least I dont have to worry about screwing up the cutters :grinpimp: )
I started putting 5/8inch plywood on the walls with PL Construction Adhesive and 1 1/2" 1/4" staples , I had some Liquid Nails crap left over and and it sucked (still wet and I put it on some stuff 5 days ago )
If it washes off your hands and dosnt smell bad it dosnt work :hillbilly:

The bottom is getting a 2x2 lagged to the frame, adhesived and screwed to the walls and deck too . The walls are no longer like wet noodles anymore :bounce:
so on to the pixs

simply amazing....

more progress

heres some more pixs from this weekend .
I reinforced the top of the walls with 1x4s to make it it stronger for both the addition of a poss A/C unit if wanted later and keep the roof from sagging under snow loads too.
The other added bonus is theres a place to screw the awning channel to other then the outer skin.
The walls are already for the paneling. The metal floor has been scraped, primed with Rust-Oleum rusty metal primer and top coated with the Rust-Oleum Professional Enamel. Then when the metal floor is dry plywood is all cut and ready to be screwed into place . The wood sub-floor will be coated one more time before the underlayment is put down .
Once the floor is done paneling is ready to go up on the walls

Holy s*** dude, you are building a whole new camper.

I always wondered why camper builders never use better mouse proofing materials . I would think that lining it with that small square galvanized mesh ,like the stuff used on pens and cages , would be helpful.

These things are built so cheaply its not even funny the new ones are even worse. The local guy I deal with who for the last 30years who makes trailers for car hauling and landscapers has a 4 year old $100k diesel pusher he takes to all the local car shows and meets to sell is always fixing s*** falling off it or breaking . The dealer got to the point where they just send him the stuff that's covered under warranty and he installs himself and sends the old crap back if needed .

just one pix for tonight
The paneling is going up quickly . The paneling adhesive sort of sucks . Id use the Heavy Duty stuff but i'm afraid of bleed thru :frown:
but it looks good so far (its been Cruiser :princess: approved too:bounce:)

She's looking dandy Koffer...should be done for a Christmas run!!

Just a little sidebar...how about sanding, applying sealer and one coat of finish flat before installing the panels, final coat once up?

That looks like 1/4 Luan?..can't see any glue bleeding through that.
