I recieved Toyota manuals for x-mas. I know the 2F is right, but i don't think the other one applys to me. I have a 82 FJ-40, the manual says 1984 Land Cruiser (Heavy Duty) Chasis and Body. The Toyota people swore up and down to my mom that my 82 FJ-40 was covered in this manual, but its not........which one do i need?

someone must know, i know people have FSM for their 40's.........what does the 82 FJ-40 say on the cover
Look on the first page... It'll tell you the applicable models that the manual covers. Maybe someone with the right manual can give you the right publication #
The 1984 does not cover the fj40. At least mine doesn't. It covers

Well, since the production of the 40 Series was about to end, I would question whether it would be covered in a 1984 year manual - I'm assuming this manual covers the 60 Series.
On the Spector Off Road online catalog they list the following manual:
"Chassis & Body Manual-Fits 8/80-10/84 FJ40 & FJ60-USA and World"
The 8/80 and newer 40 Series is different then the pre-1980 models in both the drive train and suspension areas; the body tub and fuel delivery system changed for the 1979 production year.
I'm sure a 1984 FJ60 manual would be helpful to you for general drive train repair, but the emissions control info may not be 100% correct for a 1982 production 2F.

guys thanks so much, i pretty much think i need to get a 1980 Body and Chasis to cover my 82 FJ-40....i got the 2F manual and it rocks. I will keep the 84 manual for reference but pretty sure the 1980 will cover the 40 better.

does anyone have the 1980 FJ-40 Chasis and Body repair manual???? I just need to make sure I order the correct manual. Toyotas site is misleading, you can type in Model and Year to look up manuals......the Land Cruiser 1982 brings up the 1984 Body and Chasis (36262E) which on the inside cover is applicable for FJ 62 70 73.....no FJ-40.

Look in the vendor section, call CruiserDan, he is a toyota parts man, and will get you what you need.
