to get the brake assembly back together. I tryed the sticky grease idea and that does not work very well. I have to tap the outer part of the brake on and as soon as i do the bearings fall. So is there a better way to keep the bearings in on while i tap the end peice in place?

Rotate the winch so that the brake is pointing up and let gravity work for you.

Got it!!! thanks for the help.....

Now which way does the c-clip go on, on the end? flat side in or round side in?

I just went through and replaced all of that stuff. Those ball bearings were a pain in the ass. I took the entire brake and the gear off and placed it vertical with some grease it made it a lot easier. I didnt notice if there was a round and a flat side it all seemed flat to me and went on easy so must have gotten it right.

Just found out that the flat side goes in if it does not sit with the flat side in...it can walk out and snap making the brake ass. pop off. Which would not be a good thing.... Worth a second look brotha.
