Is it safe to run "C" rated tyres on the 100?

Kind of like how I don't really have 230 horses under my hood? It's just rated that way to make horses feel bad?

Or are they rated in metric plies and built in standard ply count?
Plies used to be cotton or something. Newer materials mean there's an equivalent number

So it's exactly like horse power. A ply is a unit of measure, not a physical item (in this case).
yes. if you quote people's replies, they can see in their alerts if you've responded to them, too

How shallI calculate that? 4x2755lbs has to be larger than the weight of the truck + load?
Sorry for the slow reply, but @hoser pretty much nailed it below.
The stock LTX tire is a P-metric tire with a load rating of 2,640 lbs. FMVSS says when using a P-metric tire on a Light Truck, the tire's rating should be derated by a factor of 1.10

So the adjusted rating is 2372 lbs. Your chosen BFG tire is a LT tire rated at 2755 lbs which is well above the stock tire.

I think tire manufacturers are generally making lots of E load tires so they can sell the same tire to a broader range of vehicles. I'm even starting to see F-load MT tires now. E load tires should have better puncture resistance but the C-load tires will conform to rocks much better (plus lighter weight). Given a choice, I'd choose C or D load tires..... D for the really heavy 100's.

I slashed my new toyo E 2 weeks ago, but then i came to know that the sidewall is only 3 plys, not 10, i wonder if all ratings get the same sidewalls

As has been mentioned, the 6/8/10 ply rating is just that, a rating. It used to be related to the actual number of plies - materials and methods have improved over time, but the ratings remained. What’s a tire ply rating? | TireBuyer.com

I thought it was an unspoken rule of ih8mud not to use quote feature since many don't use it, never understood it. I still use it because i want a response back and not have to hunt for it, just get a nice notification.

Anyone who has a link where to get a load range C set of tires - 275/70R18 BFG KO2s?

Or if there is even one for this tire spec/size? Thanks in advance.

I have E load and man are they stiff. I don't mind going to 20 psi in the dirt, but running at 35 on the street even with the slee bumpers and such it is still stiff. I do like not worrying about a sidewall cut or pinching rocks tough

really? - did you try checking BG Goodridge website?

If they aren’t on that site they likely don’t exist. Given the original application of that size E load makes perfect sense.
I’ve looked at amazon, discount tire and other online dealers and can’t seem to find a load range C on 275/70R18 or r18 in general. 16s and 17s tires there is load range C.

I think the C rated ones (which I have) are only available in europe (and there are no others available here)

My 2000 has oem size d rated ko2s. They’re rough riding at any psi between 30 snd 45- Wish i wouldve gotten C. Ive got 30k on them but they track well and don’t sling sb2 gravel so im pleased.
