Looking at Cherry Pickers to replace my 2F with. 2 TON strong enough?

Yes, but it's really hard to time and pretty much ignores all throttle inputs. Not very good milage either.
;)

BwaaaHhahahhahhahaaaaaaaaaaa.

Does that mean it will hold the engine but I shouldn't use it in place of an engine!

I used a 2ton picker from Harbor Freight. It worked fine. The 2ton rating is with the boom at the shortest setting. The rating drops as the boom is extended. I had to go to the third hole (1ton) to get enough reach to get over the engine. I also used an adjustable load leveler between the the hoist and the engine. If you pull the engine with the tranny attached, the leveler definitely helps.

2 tonners work perfect, I've got one on "long term loan" that folds up some for less storage space....hasn't let me down yet.

did a motor swap once with a buddies wrecker boom...that one was a F to 350 conversion, beginning to end, 4.5 hours on a Memorial Day afternoon...

may have been overkill tho.... :flipoff2:

Ended up not needing one, but after researching prices found a nice portable 2Ton at pep Boys for $119

I have a 2 ton from Costco that i got for around $200. The more you pay the longer the reach at the full capicity of the boom. I am looking at a NAPA 3 ton that goes out aroung 6' and will still hold 2 tons. Around $550 but the longer boom makes some jobs much easier.
