Don't really understand the lack of recovery points on the IronMan Premium Bullbar. And since they no longer office recovery points for the GX460, what is everyone using as an alternative?

Jeff, when did you get a 460? I have been trying to find something to work with mine. I have the Treaty Oak recovery points but there is no way to get them to mount with the bumper. I have also seen some use the ARB recovery points but can't find them anywhere......AND you have to mount them before the bumper (or at the same time) which would mean I would have to remove the bumper just to add the recovery points. I am going to talk with Kevin at SSO to see if we can come up with a solution to run something off the frame and through the front of the bumper where the plastic covers are (but not make it look like a meth head built it ).......

We've had one for about 3 years (2016). I just sold my F250 and got a LX570... so now I'm going to do an actual build on the GX. Installed the IronMan FCP 3" lift on it last year. Now it's time for front bumper and slee sliders (as soon as they are back in stock).

That's awesome. Let me know if you find anything for the recovery points. I bought Erick's built 2013 GX460 in November. Loving it so far.
My 2018 has front recovery points.

My 2018 has front recovery points.
My 2016 has the stock recovery points as well. However they were way underneath and not very conducive for any type of recovery, especially if you're buried in mud or sand.

One of the many reasons I no longer own the Ironman front bumper. Lack of visibility and winch drum access is horrible as well.
What did you switch to?

The Ironman bumper does not have recovery points because it is a blatant knock-off of the ARB bumper which also does not have recovery points.

Your factory points remain in-tact with either bumper. You literally do not need them.

I’m not sure what you mean by lack of visibility. The bull bar corners can be seen from the driver’s seat. But I am also accustomed to this style bumper as I had an ARB on my LX450. As for the winch drum access, I agree. I thought about cutting one of the holes larger but I have a wireless winch controller. I know the discussion some of you had about the safety of the wireless winch controllers. But I have been running them for several years and never had a problem.

I have not seen an ARB for the 460 / 150 but I don’t understand why they would not put recovery points on it. They put them on their bumpers for the LX / 80 series. 🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️

The ARB bumper on my Tundra is rated to a 15,000 lb pull. They tell you right in the instructions to re-use the factory recovery points, but they no longer mount in the factory location, they mount through the ARB bumper which reinforces the factory mounting point. This was the same on my F250 as well when I had the ARB front. I assume it's the same on the GX, but I didn't want a big heavy full bumper on it so I didn't buy one.

One thing is certain, ARB is hands down the highest quality bumper you can get. They are rated, crash safety tested, and are all built in-house. Looks-wise? Not everyone likes them... and they do stick out quite far... but I'll take proven function over form all day every day.

Visibility of the winch drum, not around the hopes. I had to cut a huge hole in the plastic radiator cover just so I could disengage/engage the clutch. You have to pull the whole radiator cover just to ensure the rope is feeding on properly.

I have had clients with other hidden winch style bumpers that I had to unfowl the rope off the drum because it piled up on one side and was binding on the winch structure. This is a real problem, many damaged ropes and winches.

Either way, ARB is leagues above Victory in quality and product testing. I wouldn't buy a trash front bar just to get spot to hang some shackles on.
In the 2018 GX owners manual it states to use an elastic type recovery rope (aka kinetic rope/strap) on the factory points. I was surprised it stated this. I definitely wouldn't single point recover off those. Rig a bridle and spread the load like this in the Safe Xtract app.

I don’t have any of the engine covers so that’s not an issue for me. And I’m able to see the winch drum well enough to get the rope on there properly but I understand what you’re talking about.

Understand about factory recovery points. Just would prefer them on the bumper itself... or more easily accessible than the factory points.

Victory, I wasn't impressed with it either, so I modified it. At least it has recovery points!
what was it about the Victory you weren't satisfied with and ended up modifying.

Trying to narrow down and bumper and there seems to be something about each of them that is not quite right. I know this can be said for every product every made.

 I'm half afraid to learn this all "officially" as I think it would embolden me to do more stupid crap than I already do.

Lack of access and good visibility to the winch, drum and not roller fairlead friendly. I cut and boxed it to provide a vertical surface for the roller fairlead. Machined Delrin rollers to replace the steel Warn rollers.

Starts on #562.
