I now 6500# max tow and a class 4 hitch 800# tw.
New guy here!
I have a Cherokee grey work 19rr 4k plus dry with est 600# tongue weight.

Currently have 2023 tundra but due to age and the wifes medical issues I need to down size as getting in and out of a *truck* is really becoming a problem. Found a good deal on a 2022 gx460 with factory tow package.
Always ran a wdh and friction sway with all my previous setups just want some good input from current owners with this or close to set up.
1.Lucky to tow once a year if life allows us.
2.I need a brake controller
3.mirror extenders

We havnt used the trailer for 3 years due to life and we're hoping to try to see if this year will be better.and can the gx460 do it?

Thanks

Like some others have mentioned, towing with the GX is not the best option. Local trips of an hour or so and without exposure to insane crosswinds, I'll comfortably tow mine HEAVY with WDH and brake controller dialed in.
For long (>500 mi) trips with our camper, I have pulled it near 5k lbs loaded using brake control and WDH from the Mid-Atlantic to Yellowstone. Parts of the Dakotas and Montana will try to murder you up there. Winds are not easy to predict.

For perspective...the longest sail I'll ever pull even with sway control (19'). Somewhere in Iowa just east of Omaha a few years ago.

Nice! Congrats! So this looks like a Lexus dealership? If so, did you notice how many 550s were available?
I saw one.

Thanks.
I saw one on site and we had to go to a warehouse to get my gx and most likely more were in there.

Well I done did it boys!
Left is mine and the right one was out for a test drive. What an amazing machine!

Congrats!
Any plans? Or just go cruising and enjoy it?
May I suggest a road trip? These rigs are awesome for road trips!
My wife and I did a cross country trip a few years ago and pulled off 1,000 mile days. Yeah, we were a little stiff every time we hopped out, but that comes with age. Heck I get that way getting up from my sofa if I watch too much TV!

Thanks, First road trip was coming back from the south side of Pittsburgh! Diffently an awsome road tripper But I need to get the alignment check. First test drive was not happy with the amount of counter steer need on some roads, dealer aligned it and they basically did a toe and go IMO. Local alignment only business will look at it this Wednesday But other than that I'm very happy with just the smaller size, stereo is awsome vs JBL in the 2023 Tundra. SNOW KING NOW as we've had a good amount of snow and pffft no more 2h to 4h then back to 2h to make a sharp turn on cleared road vla bla bla. This is my last vehicle and it will be a road tripper for sure!

Update: Alignment really made a difference in handling. Just blown away by the cool stuff this GX does!
AWD is Awesome, 4 real auto leveling headlamps, rides so quiet and smooth, headlamp washers big +, payload is as or more than my past 2023 Tundra platinum was, lighted running boards were the game changer, Stereo is mind blowing vs the 12 speaker JBL, my lab approves also. Wife's very happy because I now can park in a handicapped spot for her as I have much better visibility and this GX turns on a dime!
I'm trying different tire pressures does any body have any real numbers on these Michelins Latitude tour HP's?
I believe the max is 51PSI on the side wall (I know this is the max of the tire) door jamb recommends 32psi, I'm running around 36 right now..

Thanks every one

Lower PSI would be better considering where you're located and lower PSI will give you a larger "foot print" when driving, which equates to more traction. When everything drys up, then bring up the PSI a little for better MPG and better tire wear.
Also, you noted about towing. There's quite a few folks on this forum who tow and recommend that if you do tow, especially anything consequential in size you may want to consider an extra transmission cooler in the front.

Just for giggles, post what size trailer you have and see how many hits you get on this thread about towing and transmission cooling.

See post #1 but here are two more pics of the trailer. Who knows I may just sell the camper as time is something we never seem to have enough of.
Pic is my wife's 2017 rav4.
24ft long 4200 lbs dry, let the trans cooler gods rain on me!
*I did lower the psi to 32 and that made a load of difference. Thank you!
