Don't really understand the lack of recovery points on the IronMan Premium Bullbar. And since they no longer office recovery points for the GX460, what is everyone using as an alternative?

 I'm half afraid to learn this all "officially" as I think it would embolden me to do more stupid crap than I already do.
You would be much safer of it.

Nothing Victory offers seems impressive to me. They appear to cater to the mall crawler crowd who don't actually use things.

My MetalTech has recovery points!
You can see them here, on either side of the winch:

I dunno, my Strike front bumper is pretty functional. Vastly improved approach angle v the dangly plastic bits, solid windh mount, integrated recovery points in line with frame mounts. Decent aesthetics (for the competition, and give the fact that the GX has an obscenely protruding snout). What more do you need from a front bumper? I didn't need or get the kangaroo bars, because, well, I don't live in kangaroo country.

So the issue I have with that is the drum access, or lack there-of. Not saying everyone who buys them puts them on mall crawlers... just that they seem to put their design style ahead of functionality.

Is there ANY GX bumper that has decent drum access? The pronounced "snout" on these means that either the winch is back right to the radiator, or, as in the case of an ARB, you take a pointy snout car and extend it another foot out front, and still can't access the winch from above. These aren't fj40's where the winch can sit in the open in front of the grill. What bumper are you running, or suggest to run, that has decent winch access?

Every time I've had to use my winch, drum access has been very easy on the MetalTech.
My plug-in is under the hood on the passenger side firewall. Again, easy to get to plug my controller into.

All things considered I have pretty great access with my LFD hybrid and that isn’t even a full bumper.

Every newer vehicle is made this way. It’s hard to get a fully exposed winch on anything other than an old old land cruiser or like a jeep wrangler.

This is also one of the reasons why the good full bumpers stick out so far.

I crack on Victory the most because instead of cutting in drum access they put decorative bull**** in front of the winch so they can have their logo front and center. Priorities…

Agreed, the winch access on that is best-in-class. The trade-off is that it doesn't offer any increased approach angle over stock, and leaves the corner plastics totally exposed to rocks, trees, roots, ruts, etc. Not a tradeoff I'm willing to make since I'll be using the rig in places that will damage the plastic much more frequently than I'll be winching. If you don't plan on going anywhere where approach angles larger than stock will be encoiuntered, then I guess that works. But then, will a winch be really necessary? (keep in mind I live in an area with very little mud).

Except that in the case of the GX 460, all those cow-catcher bumpers actually DON'T offer any better winch access. It's still completely boxed in. The extra added length out front is only to accomodate the bar design they chosen to perpetuate.

Yeah, you've made that abundantly clear on here. And I agree. I'm not anti-logo, I'm anti function. And a total of one hour is all it took to remove a light-blocking logo, and be back in business. Problem solved. :meh:
