So, I bought a 2005 LX470 in Sand Dollar Pearl. It has 165k miles on it.
Drove it home 1,000 miles over the weekend.
The good:
Car is super clean. Not perfect but very clean.
Car looks like a 8 year old 75k mike car.
AHC works.
AC blows cold.
Bluetooth was upgraded to allow music.
Tires, wheels, brakes, are all in good shape.
Seats are very good.
The Bad:
Rust on rear hatch bottom.
Rust on passenger side front quarter.
Will need AC compressor replaced
Will need steering shaft replaced.
Needs alignment, drives straight but need to have steering wheel turned slightly.
Thunk in driveline.
AC Evaporator leaks under glovebox
Glovebox has a cracked mount and is out of alignment.
The immediate plans:
Grease the ever loving **** out of the driveline to fix thunk.
Get complete detail done.
Get windows tinted more (20% back, 40% driver)
Oil changes all around (transmission etc).
Clean AC Evaporator
Budget up steering shaft replacement.
Budget up AC fix.
Plastidip the rear badges again
Plastidip the wheels
Weathertech floor liners around
The medium term plans:
Gamiviti roof rack
ARB sliders to replace the standard running boards.
Powder coat the wheels.
Long term plans:
Rooftop tent
Rooftop awning
More AT esque tires
Front and rear bumper replacement.
Items for budgeting:
AHC replacement when it goes.
Exhaust manifold if it goes.
Honestly, for 165k, it’s damn clean. I did pay a SLIGHT premium, but it's about average for a car of this shape, no accidents, with some repair documentation, and this mileage
Car was originally a Minnesota car, but the first decade or so of use was a snow bird... had service in MN in July, and service in FL in October, every year, on the dot.
Ps, if your seeing this G, thanks again for everything and hope you and your family are good, and the new car is as well!
