Welcome Terry! There's a few of us around Tucson.

1975 fj40 longtime owner...peoria, az

Hi guys, I've been in AZ for a long time. I've got a 1975 fj40 which i've had for 18 years.

Just finished a big restoration on the truck. It's finally rust free. Deep metallic yellow, with a snorkel (left over from my river running days).

cheers.

any local meets? I know there's an informal car show at 83rd ave and Lake pleasant (i think).. usually 100+ cars, mostly american muscle.

Welcome Gerry!

As for meets, the third Friday of each month the CSC get's together at Sonic at Broadway / Rural to shoot the bull & kick the tires, usually about 8 - 15 cruisers strong. Look forward to seeing you out there this month! Untill then, post up some pics of the 40...

er that's a long way from my end of the world. I'll try to make it, but the magic 8 ball suggests the future is hazy! anything closer to peoria? I'm at 70th avenue/pinnacle peak...basically north loop 101 and 67th ave exit.

I tried to upload the pics, but the computer won't resize.

someone can host them for me from

Ther are a few other Westsiders that are trying to get a regular thing going.
Grrlscoutfj62 and cantinero usually have something to say on it. Keep an eye out for a future thread.

Helloooooooooooo

I guess I've started this like many of you, I've been lurking for a while without introducing myself. I have a 74 fj40, which I've had for 3 years or so. Since I got it I've put in a Metaltech cage and a HFS bumper. Recently, I've not been able to do anything big becaue of $$ shortages. I'd really like to put some ARB lockers in, but I'll have to save my side job (jigalo) money for a long time before I can afford those (business isn't going so well).

Hopefully I'll meet some of you out at the Chiva Falls clean up run tomorrow.

OH yea, I just sent in my $$ and form. Look for it in a couple days.

Welcome Matt & Gerry!

As for the westside thing, my schedule has been crazy since October, but I can see the light. grrlscout89FJ62, I agree and should be good for an April beering if not even a late March one. I should have my rig up and running this weekend, as well. So maybe we can get another thread going on a westside beering again. I won't be able to make this months club meet, GF's B-day is the same night.

Hey all,

I have recently caught the FJ Cruiser bug and am thinking about purchasing one in the next couple of months. I had a '97 4Runner (5spd V6 4X4) that I loved and sold it to buy a Lexus sedan (which I still love and am having a hard time when I think about selling her). I'm thinking about coming full circle and coming back to a SUV. I have seen your meets before @ the Sonic in Tempe when I've been buying gas at QT. I'm still a "lurker", but would love to learn more about your experiences with your cruisers and what it is like to own one here in Arizona. From what I've read on various sites and on some of the boards you seem like a great group and pretty laid back. Can one join and support your cause even if they don't own a Cruiser? :)

Zach (aka 4GRAINR)

Zach,

You're more than welcome to come by and hang out anytime.

"Official Membership" is exclusive to those who own a Toyota 4X4. That said, we do not discriminate against any make of 4x4 when it comes to trail time. I'll wheel with anyone once, and some people twice. As you know, we do the Sonic meet on the 3rd friday of every month, and I encourage you to come by and check out all the rigs. It's good for someone who's thinking about getting into the lifestyle to see what other have done to their rigs.

Done lurking

I am finally going to join this coming get together.
Looking forward to seeing you all at Sonic on the 21st and paying my dues.

Although I am new to your group, I am not new to cruisers. I have had 3 different 40s over the years, and an 80 series that I just finished using up (it has since been sold to a buddy for his project). Currently I am left with a 97 LX450 that is technically the wifes and remaining stock for a couple more years, then I get it to put all of my 80 armor on.

Also am 2 1/2 years into a build of a 1965 fj45 long bed truck (that I have shortened). Hopefulyl anohter 6 months will finish that and I will have something to take on the trails with you in the fall.

Brian

P.S. If anyone needs/wants a front and rear axle from a 40 (pre-74 course spline), they are free for the taking.

New to the FJ40 crowd. I found a 75 that has the V8 conversion, aussie 5 speed, split transfer case, lifted, 35's, axles redone... but its ugly! Now to finish this project with a freshened up interior, seats, get a stock tank and vent system in (poly sucks and stinks), fix up the ignored parts... you know the drill. For now I want a reliable trail rig... not a beauty queen. I'll do the body work down the road sometime.

I live near PV Mall. Anyone in the area? I'll see if I can be running by the 21st and swing over to the meet.

Very New!

I have just purchased my first LC. It is a 1976 FJ40, and I am so happy. I just don't know what to do first. I am getting rid of one project a 1966 halfcab bronco, for this one. It is bone stock. Any and I mean any advise, comments, help... would be greatly appreciated. I'm so glad to have found you guys. Take Care!

Welcome Dave! We like ugly cruisers as much (or more:hillbilly:) as shiny ones, it shows character!

Welcome! Since you are in Chandler also, swing by any time to talk 40 series, kick the tires, etc...

Let me know if any of you are in need of any misc 40 parts, I need to clean some unused / replaced parts out of the garage...

Josh,

Since you offer... have a good drag link, center link... whatever its called. Eventually I'll do a PS conversion but for now my link is sloppy.

Sent in my paperwork but have not heard back

Hi Guys; Sent my paperwork in back in January but have yet to hear anything. Going to CM08 and would like to hook up with some others. Last year wheeled a day with Rob, Kevin, Matt & Claudia. Had a blast. Met Terry Tubb and his son up there as well. Looking forward to seeing you on the trails. Jim Sills
