Hi all,

I'm helping/guiding a friend in restoring her mom's 70 Land Cruiser. It has sentimental value to my friend. I have worked in the restoration world before and have a few questions I have for y'all:

1. Powder coat or paint the chassis?
2. Once body is removed from the chassis is it wise to brace the body in anyway for putting it on a cart or rotisserie?
3. Heard through a friend of mine that he read in one of the big car magazines that this is the last year that Toyota will be shipping Land Cruiser parts to the states. Can someone confirm?
4. Any one off parts for a 70 Land Cruiser that are hard to find? What are they, if any?
5. Convert to fuel injection or keep it carbuerated?

Specifically for the last question…I have restored two landcruisers and fuel injection is the way to go…I know not everyone will agree but just in terms of convenience and an ecu controlling all situations its nice. Simplicity would be the benefit of the carb system

and yes, powdercoat the chassis, just make sure its prepped and sand blasted

Paint. Much cheaper. Touching up powder is not ideal. Paint is super easy. Plus, if your powder guy does a subpar job prepping, you may not know it for a couple of years when the powder starts flaking off in sheets.

Bracing is a good idea. Especially if you remove the doors or rear gate/doors

If you're talking about a 70-Series Land Cruiser and not a 1970s 45-Series, you can pretty much find anything you need. They haven't changed drastically in nearly 40 years. Partsouq is the jam.
