Hey guys,

I wanted to take a minute and introduce myself. I just moved to Raleigh and would love to get connected with the group. I see you have an outing tomorrow, but I will be traveling for business. I would love to make one in the future.

I do have a quick question. My LS-swapped 62 has been sitting for a few weeks during the move and has acquired some gremlins. Is there a local shop you would recommend to help me out with evaluating the problems?

Thanks,

Josh Beams

Welcome Josh! Don't have a shop recommendation for you, but you're in luck, our Triangle Monthly Meeting is tomorrow at Backyard Bistro at 7pm. You should come out!!

What gremlins does the truck have?

@GLTHFJ60 ... I saw that, but will be in Orlando. So, it will have to wait.

To all ... I know it doesn't count if there's no pictures ... So

Regarding Gremlins:
- Seem to have developed a coolant leak. Anyone have access to a lift?
- Exhaust is spitting a good amount of condensation. Any ideas?
- Not new, but something has is sucking power from the battery when it's turned off.

1. You don't need a lift to diagnose a coolant leak. Is coolant seeping, or dumping out?
2. Normal after sitting for a while. Drive it to dry the exhaust out.
3. With a conversion, it really depends how it was done to figure this one out. The ECM will draw a small amount of power. Who did the conversion? Does the battery ever get fully depleted, and if so, how long does it take?

For the coolant leak do you have an idea where it is coming from? Is there coolant on the ground or are you just having to top up all the time?

For the condensation is that all the time or just since it has been sitting?

For the electrical drain this is a pretty easy to understand video on how to track down where it is coming from.

And welcome

Exhaust condensation:
When one combines a hydrocarbon chain with oxygen (burns gas), the resultant products are carbon dioxide, and dihydrogen monoxide (water).

Ok ... To answer a few questions ...

Coolant: I don't need a lift, but it would make my life easier. I used my creeper to get under there, but couldn't see anything. However, I have a small puddle. It's enough to cause concern.

Water in exhaust: It's only since it has been sitting. So ... Sounds like this is normal.

Electrical Gremlins: The swap was done by a member in KY. He worked with Cam from Mosley Motors to get a lot of tech info. As for time before depleted (drained enough to NOT start), its tough to say ... 3-4 days of sitting? @lt1fire ... Going to watch the video.

I had coolant leaks on my last 60 both of which came from the small section of 5/8 heater hose next to the oil cooler and that short little elbow near the front of the motor.

How small is this coolant puddle? Pics?

I put an absorbent drop cloth underneath. When first noticed, it was probably 6 inches in diameter. So, nothing major, but enough to be concerned about.

So ... I followed these steps. Not 100% sure what is going on. Not even sure I'm doing everything right. LOL

Anyone in the triangle area good with electrical? Any chance it could have something to do with the dual battery system?

What'd you do to fix it?

Drain can be a million things man. Bring it to the triangle monthly meeting this coming week and we'll have a look. Bring a multimeter.

Recently, one of the T's in the heating system broke. PO used plastic. I switched to metal T's through the system and replaced the hoses. One of the joints had a slow leak that I fixed. Then ... I had another small leak that I was struggling to track down. Today, I just laid under the damn thing for like 15 minutes and finally found a leak from a hose running along the frame. I was able to reseat the hose and tighten the hose. Seems to have fixed the leak.

I am trying to make the meeting and will bring a multimeter for sure.
