I am surprised I still have these on my computer from 2004. The space stayed with the wheel. Not trying to derail thread but like others stated its all about knowing your adding more maintenance with spacers. Know plenty of guys running them without any issues for years.

Yeah...I think I’m going to ask my wife for procomp wheels this Christimas and drop the spacers. Not worth the risk.

Btw what kind of wheels are those? I’ve seen them on a few local jeeps and think they would look amazing on the 80.

They where American Expedition Vehicle (AEV) wheels.

There has been a good bit of concern expressed about the aging wheel studs in our hubs. I lost my LR wheel on I-80 as I crested Donner Summit back in 2016. I don’t know if it was my fault or simply wheel studs that called it quits. This subject came up in a new thread a few days ago and I became very inclined to order the remaining 18 studs I have not replaced yet.

Old studs can be more of an issue when we run wheel spacers, which I do.
 
I managed to snap two of them by hand just rotating the tyres. I replaced them from toyota but now I think I'll spend the money and time to replace the rest of them. who know how many times the wheels have been on and off the car.
 
Imho you double the number of lug nuts so you increase the potential for error. If you don't torque things correctly i.e. Torque wrench then you are a reckless idiot. If you install them correctly per mfg instructions then you won't have an issue. These are frequently used in off-road race applications, I have successfully used them for several years without issue. If you look at the Jeep pix above it's a obvious that three lugs were not torqued correctly and the lug nuts worked loose and two sheared off after the other 3 came off. That's install error not component error.
