I've had my 60 for 3 months. When I got it there was a pretty consistant leak on the inside of the the PS knuckle.

I was ready to do a rebuild, or at least replace the seals.

But it stopped leaking on it's own. I have only added diff oil and greased the knuckles.

I think the PO let her sit a while. Is it possible that the seals were just a little deformed, and have worked themselves back out?

Anybody experienced this?

Thanks
Dave

I think it is possible. They seals dry out and when lubricated again they could seal again fine. I wouldn't mess with it if you don't have any leaking anymore.

obama must have given your 60 his blessing...mabey you should run it with no oil and watch it rebuild its self haha.....no really NOCAL is correct those seals can shrink up when they get dry and fatten back up when lubed....

if you greased the knuckles, did you do it by taking off the entire assembly and R&R, or did you just unscrew the plug and add it?

Just added the Moly thru the plug. About a tube on each side.
Also a pint and a half of Diff oil to the front case.
The original leak was a mix of both.

Thanks

A for effort but adding grease to the plugs on the knuckle does not put the gease where it can do any good. Mant before me have questioned why they where even put there.

24 ounces of diff oil is quite a bit to need be added. Most likely it was low because it leaked past the inner axle seals into the knuckles.

Mechanical things don't "heal" themselves. I see a knuckle rebuild in your future...don't be intimidated. It ain't that hard or expensive to DIY plus it's being written up/documented eleventy billion times.

Thanks for the reply.

The 24 oz was over a couple months, durring the "leaky period"

I was kinda looking forward to the knuckle job, have about 20 bookmarks from this site and others to go by, plus the FSM.

Then it just stopped, plus there are no noises or other symptoms.

Thanks again
Dave
