Tucker...how is your FPR hooked up? Can you take a pic of the VSV and FPR?

I'm using the stock FPR with the same pump as you, here's my VSV in the intake -

Thanks Tucker. Mine is set up the exact same way. Like you said, the more I think about this, the more I believe it has to be something with the FPR, VSV or ECU. It's just a s***ty coincidence that it happened right after an engine rebuild. The low compression I'm sure had everything to do with not having the head rebuilt at the same time as the short block.

Does anyone know what the pressure reading should be at the FPR?

Thanks Dave, this helps.

Mark....If you were running an aftermarket FPR, how did you have the VSV hooked up to the ECU?

Did you get it running?

The head wasn't ready yesterday. Supposed to done today, so tonight will be a mad dash to completion. I have off work tomorrow. If all goes well, I'll be heading out tomorrow morning(fingers crossed)

Yes, unfortunately not a good update. Wrenched on it until about midnight. After a new shortblock, two different heads, two different head gaskets and two different distributors, it still only has 90psi in each cylinder. Ripping the long block back out and dropping it off at the machine shop. Something must be wrong with the cam or pistons they used.

Timing gear cracked in half. The machine shop used a plastic gear which had a metal insert in it. The cam was pretty much just spinning inside the gear. They made it right and covered the cost of an OEM Toyota metal gear. Now it runs like a dream. Only have about 150mi on it thus far.....still has he new gasket and paint smell!!

Great news, sorry it was such a PITA and cost you a weekend with a bunch of drunks.

Purring nicely and even has a whine to it as if I have a supercharger. It's quieted down some and I suspect it might a little more as soon as the cam/crank gears start to mesh together

I can attest to the whine. Nice to have met you on Friday.

I'm up to five faces w/ names now.
