I am very interested in importing an HJ61 (hopefully with barn doors) or LWB 70 series pickup to the USA. However, I'd like to do as much of the work (sourcing, purchasing, shipping etc) myself to try and keep costs down as opposed to purchasing from a reseller who specializes in LC imports.

I am not tied to the middle east but it seems as though the largest wealth of well-kept LHD are coming from there these days.

All this being said - does anyone have tips or recommendations on websites, specific auctions or anything else that might make this journey a bit easier? Would love to hear from those of you with first hand experience doing this.

Cheers!

Hello Bob, there is a sub forum here on MUD dedicated to Importing which can be found here:

As you might be aware, be ready to have a lot of patience in dealing with multiple bureaucracies, the mob etc. Last time my Dad imported a bunch of goods into NYC he armed himself with several franklins. Lucky for him as when he arrived at the port he was told it would take another 12-48hrs to get his items out but once the franklins were displayed, the items were loaded in his trailer in 45min.

Thanks, I'll have to take a look there. I am not so much worried about the importing part of things - I would hire a broker to take care of that and likely ship to west coast - but more so the sourcing aspect.
