I just purchased a Japanese import '88 HJ61 with a factory sunroof and, unfortunately, the glass is cracked and seems to be leaking slightly. Does anyone have a source for replacement glass? I know its a long shot...

Also, this is my first post, so go easy on me!

Metal. yes. Glass would have to be sourced and nobody ever likes the price when I do find it.

This isn’t something that can be made. The curvature requires a production line.

I have one that I took off of my Sahara and swapped in for a glass one.

That’s a nice truck, mine had a metal sunroof that was leaking badly, I deleted it altogether. It’s still work in progress though!!

I’ll defer to you. Curious that Mr. Land Cruiser, Horizon Early Land Cruisers, and Daniel D. didn’t share that view. Verbatim quotes when I first asked easy to find as “rocking horse s***” and “hens teeth” 😂

With heaps floating around, sounds like you’re the best shop in Oz to help a guy out. Good luck 👍🏽

There are lots of them here in NZ, I'm not sure but probably more than half of the 60's here are JDM - probably nearly all of them high roof with glass sunroof.
I had the glass of mine one fine day disconnecting from the steel underside / frame. The glue just went soft and let go. Purchased a whole sunroof assembly some years ago quite alright priced at approx $130 us.
They have gone up in price since here too, but I believe that you could easily get one. The shipping will be harsh I would think.
The supporting steel frame tends to get rusty too, you must check that before buying...
Cool locking truck by the way. A well dialed in 12HT is a somewhat permanent pure smile producing machine....

Thread 'You probably now already, but if not...'

While searching for some water ingress I came around these nice kinks in the front sunroof drains.
They are located on each side behind the plastic panel to the left or right of your shoes. Both sides similar kinked. Have a look on your one !
They were not the cause for the flooding - but good too fix it anyway. Just put some 13 mm hose connectors into the tubes.
The flooding was caused by an blocked lh side drain in the cave behind the bonnet hinge. Quite good accessible after demounting the hinge.

That’s great info! I had a suspicion that there was a blockage or kink somewhere because I tried running a wire down and it made it about that far. Can you access that from the footwell?

My other thought is my drips are due to the rain gutters. They are due for some fresh sealant.

The only replacement sun roof assembly that I have seen stateside was $1500. So it may be worth a look at the NZ classifieds.
 
Yes, direct behind the kickpanel.
