Bought my first 80 series last week - a '97 LX 450, 76K, stock, everything but lockers. Pics to come. Was looking for a LC but, I swear, the LX 450's are easier and cheaper to come by...but that's a different conversation.

I've been spying the site the past few days and couldn't refuse joining. There's just way too much info here not too.

I checked the classifieds here for chrome emblems. The gold is too bling for me. Anyone know where I can get some other than the Lexus dealership? Anyone have a set or wanna trade a set of chromes for golds?

Welcome to the board! re: the emblems, if you don't wnt to spend lots o' $$$, some have had good luck removing and cleaning/scuffing/painting them, I haven't done it yet, but that is my plan as well, my LX has the bling

Here's a pic. As you can see, I removed the gold. Doesn't look too bad w/o, except for the holes it leaves.

Got to spend the rest of the day crawling on the ground giving it the once over. These things are burley! We've been driving my in-law's grand cherokee and that thing is a joke in comparison. Anyway, everything looks really good underneath, don't think it was ever wheeled hard.

Is that a resonator just before the tail pipe? I assume the 55 gallon sized barrel behind the cats is the muffer. Both are Toyota brand.

Welcome from a fellow newbie

I picked my LX up a few days ago and was relieved to see no gold package. Instead, I ended up with bling wheels, and bling add on chrome strips here and there. The add on bling stips came off yesterday along with the running boards.
