First thanks for all the input here. Been referring to areas on and off for the past 3 months. Bought my FJ in Sept this year (2024) and noticed a number of wiring issues (no dash gauges and such). Definitely fixed some issues I found, but can't finished out below. Learned a lot about the wiring (learned via diagrams and such), but this below has me stumped. Seems more mechanical / alignment more than electrical?

It's a 1982 FJ43. After fixing/removing/repairing some of the mess I cranked the truck it would not turn off. I know believe I took off some patch that allowed below to be circumvented. Anyhow, went through the wiring and positions of the switch and it would seem to work if the key would have turned to "Lock", but notice it wasn't going to that last position. Again, all the wiring seems accurate. Took all off it out and it looks a though the mounting of both do not allow for it "Lock" but a stop at "Acc". It's as though the switch or key assembly is one position mounting to forward. I've loaded pictures and you can see that the Blue lines (Acc = power to both white/blue (WL) wire and Blue/Red (LR)) is where it stops in the steering wheel mounting vs Red lines where I want it to (Lock = w/ only power to White Blue(WL wire). What am I missing? Hope I’ve explained this well enough. The pics show the "connecting" rod.....assuming that is right?

What does that mean? It wouldn't stop cranking or it wouldn't stop running. Perhaps you could be more clear in your description.

Does it work fine if you turn the ignition switch with a screwdriver start run acc ? Just the lock cylinder is off.
The lock cylinder can be tricky to get it installed back into the steering column sometimes you can get it in correct but then you can’t get the key out. Or sometimes you can’t get the cylinder to come out of the colum after getting key in correct spot but you still cannot push the pin in to remove cylinder. Sometimes you just have to mess around to get the cylinder in just right. I’ve had issues with mine getting cylinder in and then removing key. You just have to play around. That is if it is the cylinder. But I’m assuming the ignition switch is working as it should when you turn it with a screwdriver. ?
How many wires in that switch. Gas Vs Diesel Switches are also different if that’s a FJ43. Ya never know what the PO has done. Swapping parts around from other cruisers.

A little more detail about where the vehicle came from might help. Is it from Europe, Asia, Middle East or South/Central America?

Little late getting back with ya. Been away from vehicle. Yes - using a screwdriver works great. I’m able to turn all the way back to “Lock” to disengage “Acc” position.

It has 4 wires
WL=continuous power
LR= Accessories
BY = Engine
BW = Start
Seems to match wiring diagram ??

Yes FJ43 with 2F gas.

I think I’ve figured the issue here. The barrel between the switch and electrical switch is home made (??) and off by a turn. I’ve looked on the internet and can’t find one. Anyone have an ideal of where to look? Or an image of one?
