ignition trouble........no spark

ok, i just swapped a newer 2F from a wagon into my 73 fj. i've switched over to electronic ignition using the distributor that came with the engine, and a coil/ignitor i grabbed from a 3tc equipped corolla in my back yard. i have power to the coil, my ground for the ignitor through the feet is good, but the ignitor isn't talking to the dizzy. is there any reason the 3tc coil/ ignitor would be insuficient? is there any way to test the vacume advance? any input is greatly appreciated, would like to get the beast back on the road tomorrow...

distrib igniter hookup

I had hooked up the coil and the distrib to igniter but had to jumper the other connector to make it work---then I had good snappy spark. The one wire lead is not hooked to anything--for a tach I presume

turned out to be a faulty ignitor, heard it purrrr today!
