I may have found the new heart of this beast.
Stumbled across a 27k 5.3 LT based gen 5 motor and 6 speed trans with all the wiring and ecu for a stupid low price, where I'd be dumb not to buy it even if I just resell it. . It's a 400hp/400 ftlbs on E85 motor combo. (Well a tad less but close enough)

The 2fe will be ending up in a 45LV that Brett has. Giving it to him to make one awesome project. Owe that dude a lot so it's good to finally be in a position to pay him back. lol
I'll let him post up a picture of that when he feels like it.

Engine Specs

@lt1fire sorry to hear that engine transmission fell through.

Well this ended up not happening. I think ill just swap the om606 in instead just need to switch it to a mechanical pump and decide what trans I want to run.
Dude, that sucks!

Well yes and no. It was kind of an impulse buy and a few other things popped up I need to take care of right away anyway. The biggest being I finally caved and decided to get a honda product. Took over my mom's 04 MDX when she got her new tiguan last month. My BIL was driving it and between the two of them they managed to blow the head gasket and pretty much ruin the engine by driving on it. So i'm going to be swapping in a lower mile used engine but also doing a bunch of "while i'm in there parts" so the bill is adding up.
Kinda hilarious i've always not wanted honda products because every one my family has owned from a pressure washer to a few civics and TL's have given us issues. Plus where I grew up it was fast and furious central in the 90's and early 00's. Honda idiots were everywhere getting everything us car lovers loved to do shut down by their dumb antics and crime/gangs they brought with them. I couldn't drive two blocks without a 100hp crx with 10k in body kits trying to race me in my mustang or camaro. Then swerving all over the road when I decided not to. Anyway rant off. But its funny first time I personally decided ot go with a honda product its dead before I take delivery.

The OM606 out of the benz will be a great motor. After I get a built injection pump from the UK i'll be around 375 hp and 450ft/lbs with a good rpm band to boot.
Current plan is to find a cheap used 3fe to swap in so I can drive the cruiser. Put in WA valve body.

Part 2
Build the om606 on a stand (replace all seals swap in the rear sump pan, do mechanical pump so there isn't any electronics to worry about)
Figure out my trans. Leaning towards a 6l80e still due to stand alones being available finally, a pretty good first gear 4.12 I think and a good OD gear 0.63. Those a good for the diesel.
Get the adapters
Swap in.
Longfields and chromo rear shafts
3.1 tcase gears
Quad headlight upgrade
Rear bumper

Call it good.

Send all the 3fe stuff I pull and have in my garage including turbo kit and extreme valve body to Kenny to put on Logan's Truck.

Part 2 will be spread out as I need to finish the roll cage and put new tires on the bronco and then decided if I want to finish the one ton swap before or after the cruiser. Most likely that will be after.

Awesome. Did you find a 606? That 1998 e320 turbo diesel my dad owned is back up for sale. I know the people that purchased it and they are not using it. I know it's on the wrong side of the country. U could fly in and drive it back. Has like 300k on the car. Dad owned it since 150k.

I would like a 606 in my 100.

I've been driving one since June :)

Has about 300k on it but engine was replaced by mercedes 150k ago, verified by paper work.
I have a new manifold and 8cm hx35 in my garage for it already.

Sweet. I may buy this one for the 100. I do not want to lose VSC and not sure how all that works. I will start researching.

Funny about the Japanese cars. In nc it was the exact opposite. Every person with a gt or iroc would want to race and I’m like sure and we would hit the back country roads with 30 mph curves and lots of hard braking. About 1/3 way in (total road was like 6 miles) we would start to walk away mostly because their cars handled like crap, then their brakes would fade and mostly because they really could not drive very well. I would embarrass them in my mom’s accord lxi. And would crush them in the mr2. And the next day they were trying to race stop light to stop light. That was a joke. I would recommend the country roads again and they would get very quiet. 😁. Opposite coasts and opposite nonsense. There were no high speed sections and we picked the roads to specifically pick out the weaknesses of those cars at the time. Very calculated for sure. Those guys never caught on. 😂

So small update on this. A club member is going to be putting the motor in the 80 for me. My crazy fluid work schedule means scheduling a good chunk of time to go and work on it myself is very hit and miss. So I broke down and did something I've never done before.
Also got plates finally for it. Went the vermont way. With two girls in travel ball softball I didn't want to put the burden on Brian to try and do a NC abandoned vehicle title.
Plates just came..... in two weeks the registration will be sent and then I can get a WA title.
Was planning on being out for Logans and the week before but Andreas work doesn't do time off on September being the first month of the new school term so we are shooting for xmas party to come out and work any final bugs out of the 80 after the new motor is installed. May do a bumper build at the same time.

Edit: Location will be at Eric's @fourtrax
Putting this as a mark the date post with better details to follow, like total work needed and location.
I'll be flying out Wednesday, April 12th and flying back to WA on Tuesday the 18th. During the week i'll be trying wrangle all the parts I have for the swap out there to make sure they are all still there and ready to go.
I believe right now the 80 is sitting with the old 3fe out and radiator, core support, grill ARB bumper etc also out.
Truck is sitting as I left it with the broken 3fe in there
So to get the 2fe in there needs to be
  1. 3FE removed
  2. Body lift installed
  3. FJ62 flex plat and bolts installed
  4. Take PS pump, alt, etc off of the old 3fe and put on the 2fe
  5. Take 3fe oil pump, pick up tube and support off of 3fe and install on 2fe. 2f Block has tapped holes for this already
  6. Put 3fe oil pan on 2f block, pan needs to be clearanced slightly
  7. Install 2fe at this point it should go back in just like the 3fe
  8. Get it to run and everything to work in harmony. 2fe is on a stand alone which i've never personally worked with before.
  9. POSSIBLE INSTALL THE WHOLESALE AUTOMATICS NOMAD VALVEBODY IN THE A440 TRANS DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH I CAN GET DONE BEFORE SATURDAY OR HOW FAST IT GOES.
I'll be getting food and beer for the event. At this point I almost wish I had a super low mileage 3fe to just put straight back in with noods but the 2fe is a better motor anyway. Not sure how it will like the turbo kit with its high compression but thats for another day when its actually back in WA with me. This cruiser has been away from me for too damn long lol.

More details to follow.

Doesn't look like this anymore but was the only pic I have handy on my work computer right now.

😆 like it says it doesn't look like that anymore.... at least I hope not. Lolz
If the green has come back I'll pressure wash it the day I arrive.

Details will follow.

Ok work list updated.... there must have been a miscommunication somewhere but the original 3fe is still in the truck and its pretty much sitting as I left it last time I was there two years ago. Hoping I can get some long nights in before that saturday to get things moved along otherwise I might just have to try and find another 80 3fe to save time.

This is how it sits currently.

So yeah @GLTHFJ60 i'll have to pressure wash it again lolz

I hope you get some help. But a week before Relic run I’m sure most club members will be busy with their own projects.

I know a week out from the event is usually my busiest time for me in the garage.

But I might still swing by for a little bit.
