I’m debating that too…my concern is that it’s a lot of sidewall. I think that means a cushier ride which is good, but i wonder how different highway performance would be.

It seems to me that the softer and more compliant the ride is, the more wallowy it gets at high speed.

Finding the balance between high speed stability and compliant ride seems like an expensive process of trial and error.
You can always increase tire pressure slightly if it feels too squishy. I prefer the ride on the highway with my P rated 275/65r18 Michelin Defender’s at 35-36psi vs the 33psi spec. I’m sure overdoing this would hurt handling but I find a slight increase in psi is noticeable, and subjectively beneficial on P rated tires.

I’d go straight to 285/75/17 or 35/11.5/17 tires.

Love to have the 35/11.5/17 but it requires a rear bumper or some sort of tire carrier. Just wanna slap some beef n go have fun out in the wilderness.

Right now it’s taking forever to run down the 285/70/17.

I am all with you here! I just found out about the Kenda RTs in 35x10.5r17s from Grinchy here on this forum. Ended up going with these and looking forward to getting them mounted then doing a review. I wanted something that would be somewhat simple to install and get me back on the trail soon.

I can figure out all the other items needed to fit full width later on if I need. Would likely need a tire carrier with full width but some say you can get away with modding the bracket.

I don’t recall anyone able to fit the full spare in 35s. I could be wrong. Be awesome to get away with it.

35x12.5 in a slightly modified spare location. Not perfect but the stock resonator would still be the lowest point of contact in the rear (I cut mine off).

I do plan on moving to a swing out in the future, but this will do until I move to a 37 in the spring.

I was a fan of the Wildpeaks, so ill probably go back to them from Ridge Grapplers. As far as wheel, I wouldn't go with the Method Double Standard again. Not a fan of the lip, and the water/mud/whatever it holds onto. So they'll be on the way out soon too

My new-to-me 570 has brand new Michelin Defenders on the stock 20“ rims. I would love to get some 18” wheels and put some 275/70s on it. I have the stock TRD Off Road wheels with Michelin AT2s on them from my Tundra sitting in my garage. The AT2s are more capable than most people think, especially for a P-rated tire, but they tend to throw rocks. You can hit your own windshield with them. It’s nuts.

I have about 32k miles on a set of 285/75R18 Duratracs mounted to black TRD BBS wheels on the Tundra. They are fantastic in snow, mud, gravel, sand, and dirt; and they are acceptable on pavement. 😁 I rotate them every 3k miles, and they are just now starting to get a little louder on the highway. I air them down for off-roading. No issues other than shearing off a couple of shoulder lugs here and there.

Back to the 570...the Defenders run so smooth on the highway, and they’ll last forever. I may just leave them on and see what happens. I’d really love to reduce the weight at each corner though, so we’ll see.
