If all LC/LX were gone…what would you buy to replace it?

The newer Jimny would be high on my list, as would the GR Yaris. If only they would sell them in the states

Not getting rid of my 200, but put down a deposit on a Grenadier. So that will be my next "new" car once/if it finally makes it to the U.S.

Liking all the alternatives. It's like the who's who of enthusiast cars.

I had a g500 for 9 years before my LX570. It was a great truck, more similar to a very overbuilt wrangler then the LX. I off roaded it hard, camped, fished, hunted out of it. Only reason I sold it (and a f250) to get the LX was to be able to off Road and pull our camper with one vehicle.

It drove like the 50 year old truck it is. I always joked that It was the nicest worst driving ever vehicle ever made. I have no idea why people own them that don’t regularly off road. The new ones are probably more refined with IFS.

Now with 8 years in 2 teslas (S then 3) For me I’ll probably never buy another gas car unless something catastrophic happens to my LX in the very near future I’m on the list for the longest range CyberTruck and Rivian with max pack. Also intrigued by the Hummer.

If I had to get a new vehicle today and it couldn’t be a 200. I’d go 10-15 year old GX or 15-20 year old F250 diesel. Then buy one of the fore mentioned EV trucks with the longest range as soon as I could.

I'd probably do a Nissan Patrol (Armada). Plenty of room. Rides nice. Can tow. And, frankly, and much better value than a 200, but I am a Land Cruiser guy.

I thin they'd sell like hot cakes if they sold them here in the states. The perfect ranch or beach buggy and affordable by most anyone.

Recently carpooled with my buddy and his family on a couple hundred mile drive that have one and it was very quiet and comfortable. It drives like a boat but for road trips it’s great.
You have to get this, drove one with and without big difference: Available Hydraulic Body Motion Control system monitors force and distributes variable pressure to either the outer or inner suspension for less body lean and a smoother ride.

My sister had a QX56/80 and I found the plastics to be cheap, the doors felt thin when closed and the cabin was no where near as quiet as our LX. They are cheaper than a Lexus because they aren't quite the same quality/level of a Lexus. My sister agreed after owning it and moved on.

I know this is blasphemy here but ive always held the G wagen to be even more special in my eyes than the LC. Havnet driven the IFS update but i know what you mean. Also havent driven non AMG pack so perhaps the ride isnt as awful as ive experienced.

Its great seeing everyone throw up EVs, and its only gonna get more interesting as the market matures.

work truck spec 2021 tundra- if it exists- vinyl seats and floor, fold up center arm rest front bench seat. preferrably blue, 4x4 and on steelies.

I purchased my G new then drove it for almost 10 years. Purchased my ‘13 LX new and now approaching 10 years. The LX and G are very similar but different. For the g compared to the LX. Brakes were adiquate at best, steering and turn radius was like a tank. It felt much smaller and top heavy. Felt like a sail in cross winds. Roof rack options were minimal and overall sucked. Interior in my g was awful for a vehicle I paid $75k for new in 2003. Seats were straight out of a c class, things shake and wobbled within the first year. Body, engine, drivetrain, frame were very similar and solid like the LX. Off road The triple lockers were awesome but it was not more capable then my LX. It felt smaller (because it was) but the long turning radius made it feel bigger and more cumbersome off road. I loved it for all its quarks and solid reliable build but at the time keeping my 80 (that I had before the g) would have a better in every way. Now that I think about it I would never go back to the g. I bought it new in 2004 for $75k and sold it in 2013 with 130k miles for $68k. If I still had it today could probably sell it for $45-50k. Which is pretty insane when you think about it.

I’ve always been convinced that if the g never became popular with the SoCal celebrity/NBA/NFL crowd approaching no one would ever buy one. It really is just a fancy 4 door wrangler.

I had a g500, it would have been easier at the time to get a g55 as they were more common. But no way was I going to do the AMG that came with Hugh rims and summer performance tires. I did drive an AMG a few times as a service loaner and ride of the AMG was much rougher then my 500.

I'd prefer an EV, but my LC use is almost all towing and I go places there are no charging stations, so for me it would be a hybrid. The 2022 F-150 Hybrid with the Pro Power package would be a first choice right now. However, the overall market is changing almost monthly with all the new powertrains/vehicles in the pipeline. I'd consider the Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEV, but they put a tiny 4-banger in it that will be poopy (to use a technical term) once the hybrid battery is discharged and marginal reliability remains a Jeep thing. I like the new Sequoia, but I'm done with Toyota because of their truly lousy local dealerships.

Imagine you no longer had the LC/LC to buy regardless of the year/model, what would you buy to replace it? Could be functional or emotional. Price is no option. No Tie Fighters or X-wings allowed.
i would buy my power wagon back.

3500HD Cummins with the 37" AEV Prospector package, lockers, and swaybar disconnects.

I'd add this to list but it's already in the stable and definitely not going anywhere.
