I'm strongly considering picking on up to replace my S6. Keeping the Cruiser, though...Likely an Audi rs6
So you just described the LC! Ha!My sister had a QX56/80 and I found the plastics to be cheap, the doors felt thin when closed and the cabin was no where near as quiet as our LX. They are cheaper than a Lexus because they aren't quite the same quality/level of a Lexus. My sister agreed after owning it and moved on.
My mother had one and it began to fall apart the day she got it. $12000 brand new fully loaded. Good stories about that truck.I’d question the reliability on a truck that’s been out of commission for 30 years. Wish they brought back the wood panel! Will probably reappear as a Heritage Addition![]()
Id buy a GX if they replace that stupid swing rear door. Otherwise a 4Runner or a Nissan Armada.
You MUST choose...which TWO are you going with in a post-apocalyptic LC/LX void?FORD:
Bronco Sasquatch
Ranger
E250 with UJO 4x4 conversion
Transit 4x4
RIVIAN, sure why not?
TOYOTA:
GX460
GX470
4Runner 4th Gen V8
4Runner 5th Gen SC
100 in particularly good shape
1st gen Sequoia in particularly good shape
1st gen Tundra
Another 80 series in particularly good shape
GM:
Colorado/Canyon 4door long bed
HUMMVER EV
MB Sprinter 4x4
PROJECTS VEHICLES (i.e. I wouldn't rock any of these close to stock as a 200 replacement)
Toyota mini-truck, taco
Unimog
Volvo 303/606
Pinzgauer
FJ60/62
I purchased my G new then drove it for almost 10 years. Purchased my ‘13 LX new and now approaching 10 years. The LX and G are very similar but different. For the g compared to the LX. Brakes were adiquate at best, steering and turn radius was like a tank. It felt much smaller and top heavy. Felt like a sail in cross winds. Roof rack options were minimal and overall sucked. Interior in my g was awful for a vehicle I paid $75k for new in 2003. Seats were straight out of a c class, things shake and wobbled within the first year. Body, engine, drivetrain, frame were very similar and solid like the LX. Off road The triple lockers were awesome but it was not more capable then my LX. It felt smaller (because it was) but the long turning radius made it feel bigger and more cumbersome off road. I loved it for all its quarks and solid reliable build but at the time keeping my 80 (that I had before the g) would have a better in every way. Now that I think about it I would never go back to the g. I bought it new in 2004 for $75k and sold it in 2013 with 130k miles for $68k. If I still had it today could probably sell it for $45-50k. Which is pretty insane when you think about it.
I’ve always been convinced that if the g never became popular with the SoCal celebrity/NBA/NFL crowd approaching no one would ever buy one. It really is just a fancy 4 door wrangler.
I had a g500, it would have been easier at the time to get a g55 as they were more common. But no way was I going to do the AMG that came with Hugh rims and summer performance tires. I did drive an AMG a few times as a service loaner and ride of the AMG was much rougher then my 500.
In 2030 when the current crop of new vehicles have depreciated to the point I'm willing to buy something used...
LX600 F-sport if $ is no object.
I'd consider the new Bronco if towing capacity didn't suck
Most likely would end up with the new gen Sequoia TRD
Not just any G, how about a G Squared? I legit saw only only last weekend in the suburbs of Socal. Casually driven by an old asian dude. Stance and clearance looks as comical as it does in pics. By comical, I mean badass, as there's nothing like it.
