9/'73 and newer. dont think they changed at all after that?

Are you updating you heater rebuild kits to be fj55 specific? the blower motor requires more foam for sure than the FJ40 blower motors from similar years.

so 9/73 to 79 tops all look like that?

Yes I am going to break each kit down to model and year.

I will double check the fiche, but every post 9/'73 fj55 I have seen had the same top. dunno if the p/n changed over the years, but they all look like that, with or without OEM A/C they are the same.

BTW, you dont need the foam on the RH side of the unit(triangle-ish) opening. they have a rubber boot much like the early FJ40 heaters.

EDIT: it may help with old boots, so maybe include it.

If anyone can post post up pics of the sides of this heater that would be great......

Need to know what hardware is needed or if I have one in my wall of heaters..

the heater box that belongs to that top will have two defroster outlets on the drivers side and one on the passenger side. it is controled by cable, so no lever washers/screws.

should more or less be the same as the 74 and later fj40 ones with regards to heater core and whatnot.

here are some pics of mine, which needs to be media blasted before I paint it and get your kit. every FJ55 heater of this vintage I have seen is this dark pewter stock.

I need to get a good pic of the ink stamp and get that reproduced. no sticker on this one. all I have seen of this vintage have the ink stamp and not a sticker.

It's funny, no one have ever said a thing about my kits NOT FITTING. ie the upper door is HUGE on that model.

My kit was designed off another year I guess, maybe pre 72????

I bought a few heaters like shown and was dumb founded....

Back to the drawing board.

pre 9/'73 is nearly identical to the fj40 pre 74 heaters, so thats why they fit fine.

the blower motors(post 9/'73) for the above pictured heaters also require more foam than similar year fj40's, as the flapper door is narrower but longer, and foamed on both sides.

I was successful at using an early fj40 blower kit in the early fj55 blower motor(pre 9/'73)
