I'd love to see pics of 285/70/R18 set up on LC200

Hey guys, long week ahead of me working right now At the New Mexico/Oklahoma border. Had some time here at the hotel bar to think about my build...

Wanted to see some Toyota LC200s sitting on 285/70/18 tires, lifted if possible...

Can't wait to get my build going.

Thanks in advance

And we shall call him stuffaluffagus.
Nice rear wheel tuck.

FYI I think @kreiten's wheels are +20 offset, so if you're thinking of running 285/70R18 on stock wheels they will tuck in about 1.5". Also IIRC he's got a 3" lift.

For comparison, I have 285/75R17 on +25 offset with a 2" lift. Our tires are almost identical in circumference (33.7 vs 33.8") and almost the same offset (his wheels stick 0.2" further out). I have 1/2" additional rubber all the way around but a 1" smaller rim, and less lift.

Also I'm assuming you will lift but for reference here's how much clearance you'll have with a ~33.7" tire on the stock suspension:

@linuxgod so tell me how you fit those underneath, I wanted to go with the 285/75/18 Toyo MT with the +25mm offset wheels, but i was afraid of the rubbing, KDSS relocation kit?

Thanks and truck looks solid bad ass!

To fit 34s on +25 offset wheels:
  1. Remove mudflaps
  2. There's a bracket behind the mud flap that you'll need to "massage" with a hammer to improve the arc and...
  3. Use a heat gun (or hair dryer) to warm the inner liner by the mud flap and then reshape it (I just pressed it inward until it cooled)
  4. I trimmed out a 12-18" tall section of the front inner liner at the bottom of the bumper since I was rubbing there
#2 and #3 are required on lower offset wheels because the arc changes slightly and the wheel well is squared off in that spot for some reason. I think @Atwalz fitted 34s on +50 RWs and didn't have to do this or get as aggressive in his trimming as I did in #4. YMMV - I was willing to be aggressive in cutting anything even vaguely close since I didn't want any rubbing when driving and I will eventually replace the front bumper with something that has more clearance anyway.

I still have the slightest rub on the KDSS arm at full right lock. It's made my KDSS arm shiny in one spot. I can't feel it rubbing, but it must be.

Once I put on adjustable UCAs and added +2 degrees of caster with them I now get a slight rub at full left lock when moving (not when sitting still) as the inside of the tire slightly rubs the sway bar. My wife noticed "a slight vibration in the steering wheel and clicking noise when turning hard left pulling out of our driveway", as she put it. I'm at 4.2 degrees of caster on the right, which is above the 3.5 degrees max spec. Next time I bring it in for an alignment I'll have the shop dial it back a bit. I told her "if it makes a noise just let tension off the wheel slightly and it'll stop". (Note this didn't rub when the alignment was in factory specs with the Toyota UCA.)

I have photos around here somewhere, and if there's something specific you'd like to see I'm happy to retake them this weekend.

Thanks @linuxgod, I am looking to finalize the build....man am I anxious to get it done. The way your truck looks is sweet!

Thanks. In fairness, @kreiten's build was my guide. I debated between his exact wheels and mine. I ended up going with 17s because there are tons of tire options at 285/75R17, but only a few (mainly M/T) at 285/70R18.

yah spot on, 20mm offset wheels with about a 3 inch lift!

Yes, you are correct. Note that I am running tundra arms and axles which has a wider track width.

Here is a picture but it's on a 17" RW rim.

In my search for tires, i've come to conclude this is the ideal size for me. The great news is the Nitto Ridge Grappler is now available in 285/70/18, I just got off the phone with discounttiredirect.com and they are $302.95 per tire and in stock.

I plan on running them on stock rims with spidertrax spacers.

another shot of 285/70R-18

Hey there, great set up, all of these!
I am picking up a 2016 this weekend and want to get tires on it right away... Would the 285/70R-18 fit with stock wheels and the 1" OEM spacers? [thinking Nitto here)

Thank you!
