I'd love to see pics of 285/70/R18 set up on LC200 (3 Viewers)

Planning to get similar tires too. These pictures helped a lot.
Stock tires (285/60) on stock R18 wheels look thin and also I need a little more width to reduce the rollover.
Since I do some rough terrains and rocks, is it bad adding a 30mm H&R spacers? Will the spacers ruin my toughdog suspension? Don't want to change to negative offset wheels at this stage.

Some pics with Stock 2016+ rims, and mild ICON lift and 285/70R18 Ridge Grapplers. EDIT: didn;t mention. NO SPACERS. only very minor rubbing, full lock in reverse.

Looks awesome! How’s the ride/noise? How’s handling at 80+ mph?

No issues at all. Not noisy, these Ridge Grapplers are AT's not MT's. Plently of 85mph cruising up here with no butt clench.....just seems stock.

Interesting. Mine had a pronounced hum from the beginning. I would notice it at about 15 mph. It was a bit higher pitched than I was used to for an AT (or MT) tire, but it was definitely there, and would get louder based on speed. That said I got mine around May 2017 and I believe Nitto has done some tire compound changes as they were having some chunking issues with some earlier tires, so it's possible the compound changes have made the current ones quieter.

Side note: I've got about 45k on mine now, and still about half tread (doing 5 tire rotations). I expect I'll replace them next winter when I project they'll have about 60k on them

Apologies for re-kindling the thread... I am looking to move up to 285 70r18 OR 305 65r18 (though I'd be concerned the added width would cause rub on the sway bar) on my 2015. I currently run 285 65r18 on +25mm offset rim and an Icon 3" lift in front 1.75" lift in rear. There was some rubbing and I have trimmed both the mud flap and pushed the front bumper well forward. With thiose mods there is no rubbing at all. Would I be able to move up to 285 70r18 without any additional modification?? And at 33.6" dia, would I need to re-gear?? Thanks in advance...

FYI I think @kreiten's wheels are +20 offset, so if you're thinking of running 285/70R18 on stock wheels they will tuck in about 1.5". Also IIRC he's got a 3" lift.

For comparison, I have 285/75R17 on +25 offset with a 2" lift. Our tires are almost identical in circumference (33.7 vs 33.8") and almost the same offset (his wheels stick 0.2" further out). I have 1/2" additional rubber all the way around but a 1" smaller rim, and less lift.

Also I'm assuming you will lift but for reference here's how much clearance you'll have with a ~33.7" tire on the stock suspension:

Any problems with having that tire size on stock suspension?

I have a very similar setup to where you are now, and want to go. Icon (albeit 2.5", vice the 3.0 system) at about 2"-ish of lift. 285/70/R18's on stock 2016+rims. With that set up and no other "make it fit" modifications, I rub ever so slightly on full lock in reverse. No special alignment, no UCA replacement.

Some feedback:
  • TUCK: See my pics above for how much they tuck, which they definitely do. I like the tuck personally, but everyone is different. To me it is more form over function, I know when I need it I'll have room under the fenders for the tires to tuck in nice. This isn't a JK, and doesn't need to have the +2" of tire sticking out of the fenders. But like my dad use to say: "There's and ass for every seat": I could be that ass!
  • RUB: if you've already made some no-rub mods, I'd think you'd be fine moving up from 285/65 to 285/70.
  • GEARING: I've had my suspension and tires since day 1. I know nothing else. The truck seems fine to me, and keep in mind I live at 9500 feet, which really kills the power. Going up and over the passes, it doesn't feel bad, and doesn't hunt for the right gear. I would think if going to 34/35's I'd probably consider a re-gear. Overall though if you get into the 34"+ area, there start to be a lot of other things you need to consider (like CV angles, etc.) that i'd rather just not get into. It gets real expensive real fast at sizes larger than 33.x".

Overall, I am very happy with my setup. I'm at about 10k miles, with some mile off-roading so far (waiting on my skids and bumpers to be installed (SKREW YEW KOVIDS!)

GL with your mods!

Thanks for the feedback. I am not on stock rims - I'm running +25mm offset. Do you think this will make a difference in regard to rub or wheel stuff? I assume it would buy me more space but I'm a noob and a bit naive. Also agree about the CV angles... I just added a dobbinsons front diff drop (dropped 1"), elliminating an inch of clearance the 3" front end lift initially provided... but I'd rather insure geometric integrity. Your rig looks great btw!

At +25mm, you’ll still have complications. Stuffing is not an issue, but you will have rubbing on the KDSS arm. It’s your decision whether you’re willing to accept the compromise. My center of hub to fender arch is 23”, and below is a photo of the polishing I have for reference. Individual results may vary.
