Posting as an FYI for those considering an Icon 3” lift kit for their 80 series LC. From what I understand the springs are the same for stage 1, 2, and 3 on the 80 series LC.

I ordered a stage 3 kit and it sits a full inch low in the rear with no load.

I originally put this on my built up 80. It has Slee bumpers and sliders. In the front I have the winch and dual batteries. In the back I have the dual swing outs, but I only have spare tire mounted. The third row seats are removed and there is nothing loaded in the truck.

Icon does not make a different rear spring and will not take them as returns. Unless you want a prerunner look or want to run 1.5” to 2” of spacers (in order to have any load in the truck) look for other springs. I am switching back to the OMEs for now and ordering Dobinson variable rate springs.

I am very happy with the Icon adjustable shocks though.

Anyone want some Icon springs?

As an Icon dealer, sure. Always have folks asking for them. Send me an email to info@deltavs.com if you would please. I will happily yield to any users here though, if someone else has been looking for a set.

Who did you order them through btw? Surprised they won't take them back.

I have Icon's Stage 3 kit on my truck. It sits level, but I also don't have a heavy bumper - yet (just waiting for my fat pallet to arrive @Delta VS ;)). Perhaps a stupid question, but are rear spring spacers an option?

For my truck I would need 30mm just to get level empty. By the time I throw recovery gear, the dogs, and some overnight kit in I would need another 20/30mm. I don’t mind using an inch or so but at some point I am losing the benefit of having variable rate springs.

It could be possible I just got a weak set of rear springs, but I don’t want to keep swapping springs. I would rather be on the trail.

I currently run a Slee 4” lift with the Slee dual swig out bumper. I have a set of lightly used Icon rear springs that I was thinking of installing just to freshen up my suspension a bit. After reading this I’m unsure if I really want to do that if they are going to sit lower. I guess they are a 3” lift spring, where as the Slee is 4”. A friend of mine has the Icon rear springs in his and he carries a ton of weight and he clears 35s and it looks pretty level. I’m rambling, because I’m confused.

If you already have the springs it’s just a couple hours work to try them.

I know with my former Jeep’s, a 3” lift may or may not be 3”. I had one that was about 2.5” and one that was 4” on the same Jeep. 🙄

The Icon springs will most certainly sit lower than the Slee 4" springs.

This makes sense, obviously because they are 4” vs 3” let ft springs. His cruiser just seems to sit higher than mine, even with the Icon springs and the weight. Maybe it’s the tire/wheel combination and it’s an optional illusion. He’s running 35” generals on 8.5 wide fuel wheels and I’m on 315 KM2s with OEM wheels. I should probably just upgrade to 37s like I’ve been wanting.

How much are you asking?

Hi, I just purchased the Icon 3" stage 1... Just to be clear. With no extra load and brand new springs, it sat low in the back? Sorry to ask a redundant question, but did you have these springs on a truck before? The one with sliders and such?

My experience is apparently different than others, but yes this was a brand new lift kit. Empty truck—with the aforementioned bumpers and sliders and a spare tire on the bumper. 315/70R17

When I went back to the OME 2.5 springs—with the standard medium weight rear springs—the truck sits about 1/2” higher in the rear with a normal trail drive load out including recovery gear, tool bag, and (2) 125lb dogs in the back. When I fully load up for a weekend trip I sit pretty close to level.

I am measuring to the bottom of my sliders which sit parallel to the frame rail and the bottom body line according to a long digital level.

When set side by side with the OME springs the Icon front springs ar 1.5” longer (no load) but the rear springs were the same length.

You could also run a set of Slinky heavy duty springs in the rear, which are reported to handle more weight than the Icon springs. Although they don’t show in stock at Mill Creek as of 02/07/2021, you could call to see if they have a set.

Correct, both Slinky and Dobinson are not in stock anywhere that I can find right now.

Good news is the Icon stage 3 shocks improve the ride of the OME springs—that I put back on the truck—significantly.

Great to hear the Icon kits are recommended here. We'll be working on an 80 project soon after we finished installing the bumpers, fuel wheels and tires plus winch on the current Wrangler project and clear the garage. We'll definitely consider the Icon kits.

I have the Icon stage 1" with 30mm spacers on all 4. The rear will sit a good 1-1.5" lower fully loaded. I have since swapped to Slinky HD and kept the spacers, it is a good 2" higher now.
