Sounds like mine pretty much all of he time (except idling). I'll post a video I took this morning. I have a different noise I can't pinpoint but you'll hear the same noise in the background.

I have a rattling/gurgling noise coming from my passenger side. Not sure what it is. But you can hear the knocking in the background.
Mario did say there was an exhaust leak when I brought it in to have the noise diagnosed, but that he fixed that for me.Some loose exhaust component?
that does sound similar. and you say you've been driving it like that for about 12k miles?
I just read through your thread on this. Sounds like you had narrowed it down to the power steering pump/ "oil pump drive gear" as @Pin_Head said. Is that still what you're thinking?Yep. I pull an oil sample and send it to Blackstone Labs every 2500-3000 miles. Noise hasn't gotten worse. I'd drive it across the country tomorrow. I daily drive it and am not the most gentle on it.
I suspect it is in the top end. I'm not an expert but I've used a mechanic's stethoscope on it and don't hear it in the oil pan or bottom end.
The problem is I honestly wouldn't even know what to listen for or where to listen. I do my own oil changes, I've changed belts and an idler pulley, that's really about it. I've changed alternators and stuff on other cars, but when it comes to something like this I really wouldn't even know where to start. The mechanic's stethoscope would be a good idea, if someone you know has one, you could try and pinpoint it yourself.
Also note the oil pressure. Normal to be that low?

@Pin_Head I noticed you're in OC and you seem to know your stuff. Would you mind listening to this video and chiming in if you have the time? I'm also sending you a PM.
first off I would be getting some 2nd and 3rd opinions on what exactly is going on with your truck. Find out hands down what said "ticking" noise is as you might be making a mountain out of a mole hill.
Secondly you might consider starting to learn to work on your own vehicle. I don't mean this as a dig to you but if you have the interest and have some mechanical ability you will save a small fortune working on your own car, period. If I had to add up all the hours I have put into my cars and what I would have had to pay somebody it would be the gross product of a small country.
Best of luck. Noah.
It doesn't sound like a bad bearing or an oil pump gear or PS gear problem. It is more of a rattle or ticking noise. You are lucky it does it while standing still in the driveway, which will help localizing it. Start with deciding if it is in the transmission bell housing area or the engine. Then try to decide if it is in the front of the engine, top or bottom. If I had to guess, I would say maybe a timing chain rattling. Also check the crank pulley thrust when it is making the rattle. I'm happy to take a look at it some time and I am in Irvine, which is down the 55 from you.
Is your crank flopping back and forth making the noise?
Thank you! PM me when and where to come by and what beer to bring! It doesn't sound like a bad bearing or an oil pump gear or PS gear problem. It is more of a rattle or ticking noise.
