I've searched & came up w/a couple wrong #'s for this. I need the part number for the 12x1.25 bolts that bolt the factory recovery/tow eyes(hooks) to the frame. I'm missing the front 4 & the rear 4 are wrong. I need to buy 8 of them & can't find them @ Home Depot, Lowe's, Ace, Fastenal, etc. so I'm just going to order Mr. T's bolts. Thanks!

I just ordered some for my 80 yesterday from McMaster-Carr http://www.mcmaster.com. Will be here tomorrow. Sometimes you have to buy a few extra, because of packaging, but I just consider them spares.

All they have in 12x1.25 is metric grade 8.8, which is equivalent to SAE grade 5. I want metric grade 10.9(factory Toyota strength grade) or 12.9. Thanks anyways.

Give NAPA a try too. Can't remember the grade, but they always have a good selection of the unicorn threads that I can't find in other stores.

Did you ever come up with a source or a part number? I need a couple for a Recovery bracket.

Beno can get them but they're only 8.8( grade 5 equivalent). I bought some online. M12x1.25x50mm is the size you need in 10.9 or 12.9 grade (grade 8+).

I just went through this same exercise. The factory bolts are stamped 8.8 and have a 17mm head (12x1.25). I went to Ace and found some 12x1.25 bolts also grade 8.8 but with a 19mm head. Had to get a thin wall deep impact socket to work for install.

My question is - Are factory bolts marked 8.8 not the same as other metric bolts 8.8?

Some pics.

Jason,
Toyota bolts are special made for Toyota. If it is marked 8.8, its at least 8.8
In regards to head size, Toyota typically uses JIS standards, which are smaller heads than what you may find here at a hardware store. Also, since the bolts are made according to our specs, if we want a smaller head, we get a smaller head.
