I made a new tcase shifter knob!

You know what is sorely needed? A black vulcanized rubber/plastic 4-speed 60-series (and 40?) style shift knob, but with a decal for a 5 speed. The only 5 speed knobs that are available are the gray ones that are a very different shape. There was a knob like I describe, which I have seen only once, but appeared leather-wrapped.

how about a pto knob fwd, rev ??????

I would be in for one as well!!!

Any price breaks if I got two t-case and 1 PTO (assuming you produce PTO)?

I mold blank knobs and then CNC cut the graphics, so I'll produce anything you like, it doesn't matter if its one-off... so, yes, PTO knobs are available.

And sure, buy three+ and I'll give you a price break: you only have to pay shipping once :D I'm kidding, how about 10% off for qty 3 or more... ?

So you want this knob:

But with this pattern on it?:

I'd be happy to do that for you if you send me the 4speed knob to mold. Obviously you'd end up with a 4speed shape knob, with recessed cut graphics like the 5 speed knob - I can't do ink stamping like the original 4 speed. But I could try to keep the look of the 4 speed graphic by cutting in those white rings and such...?

Very good news on PTO

10% sounds great! Thank you.

Can you still do the white shift pattern similar to the t-case knob for the gear shift knob?

I say you might as well do 4 spd knobs, as the plates fall off. I have two 4 spd knobs with no plates. If the price were right, I would add 2 4 spd knobs to my order...

Thank you for your work!

what does the pto look like???

PTO looks like whatever you want it to. Some kind soul needs to let me borrow their stock PTO knob so I can copy it, or you can choose another shape for me to cut the PTO graphics into. Tcase knob shape would look fine.

I always fill the recessed areas with white, yes. It won't be a "flat" graphic like the originals, but... :meh:

Anything you want, I can do, the process is always the same, its only the graphic I feed into the milling machine that changes. :)

I don't want to be accused of ripping anyone off so let me just point out - if you want a cheap clone of the stock knobs, then sources like SOR or CCOT have exact copies for cheaper than I'm charging, and that may be a better option for you. What I'm offering here are customized knobs for your unique config, but retaining the stock look. I figured this would be most useful if you have:

-A modified drivetrain - 2LO modifications, twin stick setups, etc
-A missing PTO knob (used/repro can be hard to find - the above vendors don't offer them)
-Don't like the metal plates on the OEM knobs

etc etc

Please send him one, I have no spare, and shifting without a knob would suck.

Anyone have a photo of this, OEM shift knob? I do not think the first H55F shift knobs were that gray "modern" looking one, but the same as a 4-speed with a different metal inset plate...
THAT's what I really want, but amaurer's version will surely be a fantastic substitute.

You should have it soon.... ;)

Early PTO knob was a different shape, but later 40/55 series look like the knob you will be receiving.

Got it today, thanks again! The older cases really used that little knob? :D

The problem is I am using my shift knobs! Not in Moab unfortunately... :frown:

Can anyone identify this as OEM in any market, or from some other vehicle?

Looks like OEM Aussie-issue HJ60, circa 1985, one of the early 5-speeds...

Yep, I'm all set up.

You're going to have to tell me just what you'd like on your PTO knob, however - I've looked through a bunch of pictures the originals just had a blank textured top.

Here is a picture of what the original looks like - I'm set up to make the skinny type from the molds of Poser's knob:

You can have yours blank like the original, or I can put whatever you like on it. To get your creative juices flowing, there is at least one photo of a knob with markings that look very Toyota-y:
IH8MUD Forums - View Single Post - Have you ever seen a 76 FJ40 with full time 4WD?

It looks like it says W-N-??, where presumably W = wind. I don't have a PTO, however, so I don't even know if thats the correct polarity - do you push the lever forward to wind the cable?

Just lemme know!

That's off a Celica or Corolla SR5 from the '70's. I have one like that from my old '78 Toyota Corolla SR5.

Did you find an "early" PTO knob yet? I think I have one on the '55. Post a pic of the one Steve sent and I'll see if it's the same as mine. If it is not I can bring it up in the summer. I'll be needing a PTO knob, transfer knob and shifter knob for the FJ45LV.

Here is what I've got.

On the left is a copy of Poser's knob, which I believe is a 73-80 Tcase shifter. Superficially, it matches the PTO knobs from similar years.

In the middle is the same knob, but without a textured top. I thought a smooth top will look better with engraved graphics, so I made both molds.

On the right is a copy of the 80+ TCase shifter.

Let me check my manual to see if they describe the 3 positions...

I was wondering if you had a 4 spd transmission shift knob in the works?

This is the PTO knob I have. I don't know if it is OEM or not. Maybe Steve or someone else can tell.
