Well after getting around to this finally after smogging, insuring and doing some wheeling I am putting up a new build thread. I am new to 80s, not new to cruisers, I used to hang out in the 60 series section; Which I still think is the ultimate pinnacle of the Land Cruiser series. I intend to get another 60 as soon as it is feasible.

I no longer have my V8 swapped 60 because it got flipped, wrecked and utterly destroyed when I got hit head on by a wrong way drunk driver on the freeway in August. Link to the aftermath is in my signature and here. It sucked and I am stupidly lucky to be alive, I used a few of my 9 lives when I literally walked away from that one with no assistance (minus hospital visit). Wear your seat belts and have a big ass bumper.

Any-who, enough backstory on why I have an FZJ80 now. I bought this truck from @Finnyfam60 in October who did the full build on the truck to this point, his original thread is Here.

The name comes up because frankly I know nothing about 80s other than they are a smaller uglier version of a 60 :flipoff2:. Also relevant because every time somebody asks me about it my default answer is "I don't know, I just bought it"

So far I have changed the oil, rebuilt the front knuckles due to a diff leak and jumped it.

It is a clean title, 160k miles at purchase and Factory CDL+lockers

As far as a list of mods here goes:

Slee 4" lift coils
Fox IFP shocks for an additional 2" of lift
Aluminum rims
4x4 Labs bumpers
Warn 8274+Synthetic line
Slee Crossmember/Skid plate
Chevy Front steering components
Heavy duty rear sway bar with extensions (currently missing bolts and hanging down on one side)
Roof Rack+CVT Roof top tent
Sliders
Sub Woofer+Speakers
Fridge console (My favorite mod)
Tailgate storage
LED interior lights
JDM hand throttle
7 pin mod
Re-upholstered seats
Sunroof

I am sure I am missing some mods but that about covers the basic. Its a great turn key truck that gets me back on the road in a line of legendary vehicles. Now for some pictures, they are in chronological order since I purchased the truck.

Wow, that wreck looks intense and I'm glad you walked away. I had a friend who was killed by a wrong way driver on GA 400 many years ago. Your new rig is sweet!

Yep, 1/10 experience for that accident. Would not recommend. Thank you though, I am glad I got out of that one with all things considered very minor injuries. Other car wasn't nearly as lucky for driver and passenger.

Thanks on the rig, Its been pretty fun so far!

Rectum! Damn near killed em!

Nice, I just got an 80 as well, still have my 60 but needed something more refined for hauling kids, daily driver etc, following your thread to see what I can pick up...my new one is a 97 lx450 no lockers, bone stock as it sits.....

This thing is a bit too nice for an early 20s hillbilly! Im not sure what you will pickup from me other than bad habits of not fixing things, putting off non-critical repairs and fudging together repairs that should have been done right the first time!

Love this one too with the whorl thanks to Daniel Cahn!

Thid truck is about to have a really hard life haha

That's a good way to bend your front axle

Eh, Im invincible haha @MaK92 4RnR Can vouch for me, I jumped and railed on my truck for a solid 3 hours on the dunes with multiple launches all day probably ~5-6 were hard launches. It got me home after all of it and my alignment is perfect. No bends or other damage to the axle or weird noises. The shock/coil setup was fantastic for the landing, barely feels like it jumps and lands.

So update your avatar already :flipoff2:

Pigs do fly! Haha Im glad you took that photo! Haha thanks man. We definitely started something awesome when it was a whole ring of spectators afterwards

My brother took the photo. haha But yeah, dude. Everyone followed our little group out. It was nuts.

If you aren't careful I am just gonna post photos of Bessie and tag you in them just so you get to look at the hoopty that was my rig! Hence why I went with a bad ass 80 series. I love this thing way more than my 60! :flipoff2:
My Avatar will change to an 80 series because an 80 is the best Cruiser!

I fixed it for you buddy! Lmfao
