spook,
look for a local speedo shop i had my cable rebuilt cost $30 :meh:

Keep telling yourself that, Nancy. You don't think I'd prefer to put in a new cable assembly over a used? There's this thing called Money. I don't have much of that right now. Sorry you're not smart enough to comprehend the obvious.

so let me get this straight. You dont have a lot of money but yet you want to buy a used cable and then a new cable and now you're on to GPS's and electronic sensors??

i'll give my advice one more time. Buy a new cable and look at all the money you would save....

Wow. Just wow. Did your parents have any children that survived?

Saying what I would IDEALLY want, and what would be a neat gimmick is not the same as realistically getting a used cable to last me until I can either get a new OEM cable or do the conversion to an electronic unit.

You know what, nevermind. You're too dense to grasp it anyway.

I need more !

Speedometer Cable Toyota Land Cruiser 73 up FJ40 FJ60 - eBay (item 360285236967 end time Feb-23-11 11:06:52 PST)

That's for a 60 - like Spook said it looks like they are about 6" shorter than the 62's use.

I think if you can get a local shop to rebuild yours that may be the quickest... or just get new from CDan and drive with the flow of traffic (or likely a bit slower...).

As for you and Liam... agree to disagree. Disparaging remarks just inflame the situation. Amusing - yes. Productive - no.

I'd *love* a gadget like the GPS speedo... but it's a bit impractical (mainly price, and it's not a road only truck so wouldn't work correctly anyway). for close to $300 it damn well work anywhere and all the time. On something else i might be able to justify it where speed is way off and it would easily swap in.

lame that the 62's is $50 more for a 6" longer cable... Bet it probably has same connectors.

It does. I've used a 62 cable in a 60, the extra length was handy in being able to pull the dash cluster out a bit farther when plugging the cable to the speedo.
