Hi there, I still have my 2002 hzj79. It has 560000 km's on it but runs fine. It still has the original gearbox but it starts making noise a bit. I regularly tow trailers, and with the 1HZ that needs some patience as you probably know ... I don't need a high top speed since driving trailers has a restriction to 80 km/h in the Netherlands. So lower gears are better.
There is a H55 for sale nearby from a HZJ75. Is that a good choice, and is it a direct bolt on to a 79? I know the problems of 5th gears but I can barely use 5th gear with trailers anyway. And I know allot of contractors around here that did >500 000 km's with 75's and old troopy's around here in combination with trailers.

Is a new (or newer) R151F not available? 560,000 KM’s is quite impressive.

That might be a better option if the h55f isn't a direct swap. Found a used r151f from a guy that changed it for a 1HD and h151 in his 78 troopy. He says it runned 110k km's so hopefully I can reach the million km's with it 😄

Would it be best to change seals etc before installing? My experience is that stuff that's put together by Toyota lasts longer than reparations you did yourself...
