Hi,

1992 BJ73 VM 2.5TD - I believe the synchros are going in my gearbox..

Figuring out the best move forward, rebuilding or sourcing another box (which might be in the same position later..)
I am trying to find what gearbox ID I have and if I can source one from another Toyota. Struggling to find any part numbers on it!

Cheers

Looks like an H55f, but check the data tag on your firewall to confirm.

^^This, looks like an H55f. New H55f's are available still from Toyota.

Cheers, James

Yes, VM use the F/H input confirmed. I helped with installing a 2F into a VM-equipped BJ73
33030-60450 will be a direct replacement.

Not a great pic but you can kind of see the 10-spline

I can confirm that it is a 10-spline H55F. The bell housing is also marked "HJ."

Thank you all for the info. I can confirm, on my chassis plate it states H55F

So if I understand correctly the H55F box goes across several LCs (only, no other Toyotas?) and it's the input shaft I need to consider. 10-spline F/H input.

After reading further, rebuilding might not be far off a new box. I believe there is a H55F rebuild thread on here, does anyone have it bookmarked?

Cheers

EDIT: Found it - H55F Disassembly with home made SST - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/h55f-disassembly-with-home-made-sst.469197/

Just buy a new one. It'll last for 30+ more years. Do it while Toyota still makes the h55 new and sells it in this country.

Oops. My error.
