May I know how u rectify this problem?

That's the solenoid that control the operation of the EGR. :D

1. There is a hose going to the injector pump.

2. Another alien thing.

3. There is a hose going to the vacuum pump? OH my god!

Could you name me the part of image 1 and 2?
If I dismantle the whole egr and hose what should I do to do to the hole at injector pump and vacuum pump?

That is definitely the vacuum pump. The power steering pump is on the other side of the timing cover and below.

Those pics are of a vacuum switching valve.

Thanks a lot rosco! Could you tell me how could I remove the whole system without causing problem to the injection pump? I had lost my power and I think it is due to the egr system failure and the vacuum host connected to the injection pump. :bang:

I dont know specific about how the electric and vacum setup sjould be in that car(maybe download online manual?)

BUT i know egr is bad for your engine ! (hot exhaust gasses pressed back in the cylinder)

So to delete that system is a real good idea !:D

I dont know much about them.Im not even sure if it was fitted to Australian 78/79 series.

IMO,you are probably better off trying to fix it ,unless you have full understanding of how it works.
Its probably just a vacuum leak or a faulty solenoid or bad contact.

EDIT ,I see you have that broken plastic part, why not replace it?

The egr system is useless. That's why I want to remove it rather than fix it. Do you know whether 79 fuel pump is the same as 75?

There's some electronics on the 79 pumps that can derate it when there's a fault like what's happening to you and happened to stevo. No sure what will happen but try unplugging the big connector on the fuel pump and see if it drives normally

Different part numbers but Ive been told they are interchangeable if you know what you are doing

I will try it, but hope it wont get worse.

Are there an ECU in 79?

It's not really an ecu, more just a management computer for the egr and for derating when there's a fault with something. There's still a normal throttle linkage going into the pump

Do u know where is the location of the computer management chip?

Do the local 78/79 series have these?

As i said before block both hoses off where you broke that thing and put a plate in the line between the egr and the exhaust manfould and that will disconect the egr. Dont take the hose off the vac pump or other things wont work like your ac idle up. I think that will fix it.
