Hi everyone, i'm having dashboard brake light issues where the handbrake light stays on whike driving with handbrake both engaged and not engaged. The light dims when it's not engaged but still clearly visible. I've replaced my brake master cylinder with a new one as well as a handbrake sensor switch but that has not fixed the issue. Does anyone have any ideas on this? The brake master cylinder is topped up with new brake fluid which should help against this problem too.

Thanks in advance!

Check your vacuum supply, there is a switch on the vacuum reservoir that will trigger the brake light if vacuum in the reservoir drops below a certain level.

Yep - that light is activated by low vacuum, low brake fluid, or parking brake engaged.

(And I think also by having the ignition on but the alternator not charging, typically just before you crank the engine as a bulb check, but if you had an issue there you'd also have a filter and timing belt light).
