I used these:

6 Stud Knuckle Conversion Blocks | 4×4 Labs

and used their 6 stud high steer arms. Everything worked out great.

Their kit is more than TG's with new knuckles. But if you mixed the two it would be cheaper... I know a lot of people bash on TG but the things I have gotten from them I have had no issues. this includes high steer, knuckle kit, and ram kit for my white 60. And my truggy has a TG ram. :meh:

The 6 studs will have to wait for now either way, but thanks for the link! I like that idea for sure.

I hear you. I have a soft spot for my factory knuckles since they were the large pattern already. I've had good luck with 4x4 labs.

I will probably buy their gussets and go with TG arms to help with $$$. I agree I had some excelent customer service from 4x4 labs when I ordered something from them before. Same with Marlin and Bobby Long. And the one time I called TG I was also treated very well and the mistake was mine.

We really do have some great supporting vendors on this forum.

Hijack over.

You could make those blocks pretty easily, btw.

I would just do that if I were doing it over again. Get the studs, drip and tap some steel, mill and grind to fit, weld, done.

You can shim the pressure valve on your saginaw pump to produce more fluid flow through your system. It helps out a little bit for a better reaction time but once again it comes down to the amount of fluid volume your entire system can handle.

I modded my pump as described on this site. Now just gotta lengthen my pitman arm and I hope to be good to crawl.

i've been real happy with TG products myself including 6-shooters and their ram

i try to let everyone know about this- you can save a signifigant amount of money on trail-gear products by going through one of several TG vendors on pirate in the misc. vendors section....usually will give you a 10-15% discount off TG's price and free shipping

do you still drive your rig on the street any?

When I get done with it, the only possible way that the pitman will break is by slamming into a boulder with the weight of the vehicle on top of it.

I am only adding enough length to get the box to turn the wheels lock to lock, so the steering won't be too quick on the street. My pitman arm is 5.5" now. I plan to add about 3/4".

well that's not what i was getting at lol....

if you ARE pretty much done with driving your 40 on the road then i am here to tell you from personal experience that can fight and modify all you want but you will probably never be happy with that hydro-assist setup for serious rockcrawling.....it's ok with small tires but with big tires aired down low for crawling its just not good enough.....the cool thing is there are tons of people that will buy that whole setup from you and then you can do full hydro for about the same cost if your peice it together yourself

I agree.
I have ram assist on my truggy and the 39.5x18" boggers will stall the ram when it starts to get bound up. for the most part it does pretty decent, but full hydro is something I think I want / need to do if I go ANY bigger at all. which WILL happen. I also still want to be able to drive around town again (like to get sonic or something, nothing more than like 5 miles tops) some day but I think if the full hydro is setup right that should be no problem

perhaps the pump/steering box/ram you both are using is not as buff as the setup ive got on the 80???

the 80 pump and tapped box and TG 1.5" ram I've been using has been maintainance free and turns 42's with ease. also easy to drive on the street. ill admit she doesn't turn fast enough to race autocross with the ram but the ram is fast enough to wheel hard.

perhaps you just need a better pump??

Mine turns the 38.5s good aired down.

A double ended ram and full hydro would turn them better, no doubt. Maybe one day when I get bored...

I am using the TG ram also.

maybe i wasnt clear. For the most part it works really well even when twisted up pretty good. but at a complete stop and twisted up pretty good it gets a little stiffer and I am able to stall it completely on a few rare occasions. When Im rolling its never really even a concern but at a dead stop I mean.

if yall ever get full hydro, then you'll realize what you've been missing
