This is going to be a great ride
you will be so happy driving around in a 7x series

Update: The body is now sitting in my garage. I was happy to get more with the body than I expected. Some of the items that I figured would not come with the body are: Brand new antenna, the Landcruiser badges that go on the doors, dead mans foot rest, windshield washer resevoir, battery tray, front and rear mud flaps, front and rear bumpers, hood release cable, and tailgate chains.

I am looking for a 75 series under dash heater/defroster assembly if anyone knows where I could pick one up. I also sourced new tail lights and door mirrors from Australia. Boy, shipping is costly from down under.

Thanks Clint, but like tlcruiserman said, my 79 is left hand drive.

I found a place where I am able to buy the under dash heating unit. Question, did the HZJ79's come with AC? The cost of the new (take out) HZJ79 heater unit with all the cable controls is $500.00. Seems pricey, but I'll wait to see what everyone on here thinks. The 75 series also fits if anyone knows where I can find one for less than $500.00. I'm also looking for a windshield wiper mechanism, gas pedal, brake and clutch bucket, brake power booster and other small parts I'm sure. Australia may be a good place to find these, but the shipping gets pricey. Other than for the mining industry, were the 75 series imported into Canada for private use?

OK, so for $500.00 it would only be the heater. I really need to find a source outside the US for Misc. parts, possibly Canada.

Why would you want to buy a right hand drive dash?

Hmm sorry all:rolleyes: I should have done my research and realized which country the cab is from to tell me it's left hand drive, I seen it pop up on eBay and remebered a fellow murder needed dash parts was only thinking to help

Even though a/c is still a option on 7x series cruisers I've seen a few 85-89 ish 75s with no ac but never seen a later one that donst hav a/c

I don't know if you got my PM, but I would try ENS industrial. They may be pricey too, but $500 for a brand new heater unit, doesn't seem like a bad deal to me, especially for an exotic truck that was never available in North America.
Cheers,
Deny

Yeah, that was from ENS. For a HZJ79 heater.

Hi All:

I cannot believe that *all* new vehicles sold in Saudi Arabia (but especially civilian Land Cruisers) don't come equipped with AC as standard options!!

Ask Proffitt's to contact their source in the ME as to availability of AC units to fit the 79 Series.

Regards,

Alan

Yes AC would be nice, but where I live in Massachusetts it isn't a deal breaker not to have it. The reason I ask about AC is the $500.00 heater is coming out of a new HZJ79 that is being stripped for mine use in Canada. I was just wondering what the odds are if I would be getting the AC with the heater or just the heater. If it is AC and heater then the $500.00 price may be easier to swallow.

Most of the mine trucks coming into Canada are BARE bones, doubt it will have AC, I have seen units with AC, but they are an add on that the mine has put in for themselves.

I went to the local pick and pull and got some parts off old Toyota's; Tercel, Camry, Avalon, Corolla, etc... I got a rear view mirror that fits perfect. I got two sun visors that bolt in, but they are not long enough as you can tell by the pictures. I'm not sure if I can custom build visors, but I'm going to look into it.

I also found a wiper motor that matches the bolt holes on the 79 firewall. I will probably just order the linkage as I couldn't find anything even close to the wiper arm stud bolt pattern. I will splice the wiring into the stock FZJ80 harness.

The light bulbs are common 9003 HB2 and I found a matching wiring harness at the pick and pull. I will just have to morph the FZJ80 light harness into the FJ79 light system.

Looking way ahead, but I am researching some tall, but skinnier tires. Something in the 36" range and not as aggressive as a Super Swamper. I would love to run Michelin XZL or XL tires, but they are just too hard to come by. I found these:

Construction: 8 Ply Nylon
Load Capacity: Load Range D
Single Load: 3,030 lbs. @ 50 psi
Dual Load: 2,665 lbs. @ 50 psi
Overall Diameter 36.30 inches
Tread Width 8.70 inches
