Can anyone tell me if the hoses are newer behind the radiator is this an indication of timing belt water-pump maintenance or is it a hose(s) that are just likely replaced. I looked at one today and the owner said the previous owner told him it was done but no proof. The radiator hoses were newer but I don't think that's any indicator right??
Anyone have the carfax hookup? Seems like a legit deal but would really like to know with 123k on it might make the difference in a good deal.

any marks on the bolt heads on the front of the engine? No guarantee but something to look for. Scour the engine bay for the sticker. people put them in weird places. I would spend the money for the Carfax to see. also check the lexus website.

I'm assuming the replacement sticker with date and mileage is not anywhere in the engine compt? If not, and there's no proof it was done, assume it wasn't.

And as stated above the Lexus website will tell you if it was done at a Lexus store at least.

With only 123k on it and there isn't any proof, I'd say it hasn't been done. But I wouldn't let that be a deal breaker. But use that to try to talk him down saying that you have to put $1000 into it right after you get it. Although I wouldn't be in a huge rush to do it. I've done 2 of them at almost 180k for friends and they were original and I just did mine at 151k for the first time. About $300 in parts and not terribly difficult.

Mine just got its third at 180k and it was as clean as a new engine (did some gaskets, etc so I saw inside).

Agreed. If it fails... Your engine does. No take backs or do overs

Anyone had a timing belt go out on GX? or know of any?

Actually found a sticker that says "Mitsuboshi belting ltd." but no date written in or its worn off? Is this on all GX470's?. I believe the Toyota belts I have for alternator etc. on my LC are Mitsuboshi..

Should have a sticker as noted above. Mine is a Lexus has the mileage on it. Mines stuck on the hood on the passenger side. An independent mechanic should also put a sticker.

When the timing belt is done, the main belt is done too. if you see signs of cracks in the main belt, this is often a sign the main one hasn't been done. That's usually the best initial way to tell.

I just bought a GX with 98K that claimed it had just been done. I made the dealership track down the receipt. Looked good but no sticker in the engine compartment. On inspection of all the of the bolts, it was definitely done. You can tell they were turned and the belt was done. Bummer that it's not an OEM kit (or may be, but doubtful) but it runs awesome. So I'm psyched...

Thanks for the answers folks seems pretty straight forward but moot point now as I know why we couldn't get answers from PO the odom was rolled back and I wont be purchasing anyway.
Good news is I did find one that I'm in the process of buying! after a fairly long search
