How to mount 2 kayaks with rtt?

I know this is old but as I’m just getting into kayaking and a RTT I’m curious too. Are there maybe kits that have raised cross bars so the kayak can sit above the tent.

I’m told the two seater kayak is too big to mount on its side. It’s a tarpon 135t (18’)
I'm also currently trying to solve this problem. I recently came into possession of a tandem kayak for me and my wife. Already have a RTT on my rack. Thinking of centering the kayak over the rack (laterally) and letting the front half rest on the tent (with padding) and then maybe building a brace that will attach to my roof rack and keep the back half level. Not sure yet, still thanking about it.

take a look at the roofnest options, they have one that is metal and you can buy additional cross bars for it. I plan to go this route eventually and build a litltle rack on top of the tent to carry wood or other not heavy stuff on the trail
I considered going with a roof nest of GFC to mount cross bars atop but it seems like most of those tents sleep two comfortably. My five year old sleeps all over the place, need to get something that comfortably sleeps three.

I like the ikamper design being as that it’s a bit of a hybrid but no provisions for mounting cross bars atop.

I seem to have a tall order. I think the Yakima j-hook will hold up to 80lbs for a single kayak. Too bad I just picked up their big catch mounts. The gentleman at kayak city advised me to go with that mount as a tandem is too large to use the 45 degree cradle design. Challenge accepted…

Came across this as it’s still in production. I may go this route as it will save some room on the rack up front, it will give my five year a little more space, and I can securely mount the 88lb kayak…plus accessories. On some cross bars above.

Trak Kayaks make a folding kayak. All breaks down and is stored in a golf bag sized bag. I have carried two inside the Cruiser.

Cheers
Very cool, plan to buy some kayaks in the coming months. Thanks for sharing.

How have they held up for you? I've been aware of these for a bit but haven't talked to anyone who has used one.

Pretty good, they just are not a beginner kayak in my opinion.

Real fast boat and very maneuverable.

Cheers

There are no kits for kayaks & RTT’s. Whatever do you mean by “too big to mount on its side.”?

PS: Be careful/do your homework when looking into RoofNest tents. The consensus for (at least) the last year has been that they take your money, over promise and under deliver.

PPS: Kayak loading system still work and allows me to setup the tent without having to remove the yaks (Yes, I know I need airbags):
