How to jumper the CDL?

So it is entirely possible that all I need is the switch that tells the CDL to lock then. Can I jumper that switch and see if it locks the CDL?

Get the switch and do the 7 pin mod. That way you can control
When the the cdl activates. When I first bought my truck the switch that engages the cdl when shifting into low only worked every so often. Added the switch and all is good. As others have stated, a hazard switch will accomplish the same task.

That is on the list. The problem is that the list is long and seems to always get longer ;-)

So I got the new 4L switch installed also. Now, my CDL engages as designed and the ABS light comes on, but I can't get the rear or front lockers to engage. I have tried the figure 8s on gravel (although not a ton of them) and I also jacked up 1 rear wheel and tried to spin it to make the locker engage. Am I doing that wrong? My wheel that is in the air barely spins at all, maybe 10 degrees or so. Just to clarify, I have the truck in 4L, CDL engaged, rear locker turned on, one rear wheel jacked up in the air. I can hear both lockers try to engage when I turn the magic dial (click in kick panel and the electronic movement sound from the diffs). Pretty sure these things want to work for me, but just can't get that last piece figured out. Any advice? Thanks, Dan.

Piggybacking here. If you do the paper clip test and the light doesn't come on but you test it by raising one tire and locking it ( it passed) do you guys think it could be a loose wire? The light works sporadically

Go spend more time in gravel. Punch it, spin tires, figure eights and tight circles at decent speed....

Yes.

Finny- I will try it some more. Should I be doing that with just the rear locked at first or both front and rear?

I think I did mine rear first then both. But recently I engaged them both and front locked up first then the rear. So you could do both and then rally around in the gravel. Around Cali is harvest time right so there is lots of loose dirt out on the side of the country roads to do it on...

A visegrip worked for me. I jumpered that switch and I have the locker light!! Ordered a switch and I am in business with my newly LOCKED Cruiser! Yes! Thank you once again MUD!!
:bounce::cheers::bounce2:

Where did you order the switch, and how much? I'm having similar issues

I believe they are talking about jumping the switch (or sensor) you replaced on the TCase.

Unplug the sensor, and jumper the wires to see if the light will come on. If it does, plug the new sensor in (while it's unscrewed) and push the end of the sensor in and see if the light goes on.

If all is good, it is safe to assume your "switch" is fine, and the CDL is not being engaged. If the light does not come on, then your CDL may be engaging but the switch or wiring needs to be addressed.

Have problem with my 4wd not engaging hence trying to read up on it and came across your post. CDL light on dashboard does not light up either when button pressed or when 4l engaged. And def 4wd not enagaged.

Stupid question as certainly no mechanic/electrician.

What does shorting the sensor do?? I have shorted that sensor on my transfer case and a clicking can be heard by the steering wheel but no light or any noise from actuator/transfer case. Does this mead the switch works and the actuator stuck? Or there is problem with electric and not sending signal to actuator????

This sensor is open until it senses your t-case deal is engaged, and then then it closes, making the connection and sending voltage back to the dash. I didn't really read the thread...

If you're not getting a light when you depress the sensor then either the sensor is bad or you have a problem between the sensor and the indicator light or at the light.
