Cheers for that mate, look forward to seeing what wastegate you end up using

Fwiw, you can use the stock wastegate and a boost controller. The compressor cover and wastegate bracket needs to be modified slightly, but the setup works well.
If you have your HDT compressor cover machined the fit the supra wheel, there is no mods necessary.
Hey mate. Great detailed write up on the install
Quick question, I’m half way through installing one myself and was wondering where/how you secured the turbo support bracket to the block? Did you use the 1hdt bracket or use your own?
Thanks heaps
The temp sensor I removed was a safety shutoff for the AC if you are overheating, the temp sensor for the instruments is located towards the rear of the block down low.temp sensor move to where
How is this water pipe installed/sealed? Solder/braised?Once you have removed the exhaust manifold and intake pipe work you have access to the water bypass pipe, remove the hoses and P clip, then use a pry bar to lift the pipe out of the top of the thermostat housing. The 1hd-t pipe presses in exactly the same as the 1hz pipe.

I haven't installed the coolant crossover pipe yet as it requires pulling the timing cover and belt etc. I will do that on the next timing belt/ water pump replacement. Instead I just ran hose through to the water inlet on the head and into where a redundant sensor was. I'm not happy with the big loop of hose though so I'm going to tap into the bottom of the housing like a 1hd and install an elbow.

I saw you tapped return on to temp sensor..... is there another soft plug that's removed for part# 16278-17010 water pipe bypass? It’s a bit odd but it’s just a compression fit. I tapped it in with a soft face hammer. No sealant needed, just make sure the surfaces are clean.

Ah never mind, should have read furtherHi Serenity,
Digging up an old post here but I'm replacing the water bypass pipe as well on a 1HD-FT. When you pressed it back in, did you need to do anything special? Any specific tool needed? It's not listed in my FSM. Thanks in advance!
