Given that I just shelled out $2k for the master/booster assembly a couple weeks ago, I'm going to check out a local used part tomorrow. If it doesn't work out I will definitely be contacting cruiserdan.

That is quite the failure, can you tell if the crack was between the nuts or where it occurred along the spindle?
I'm glad the thing held together and that you found it when you did!

I'd be sure that's a crack and pry on it a bit to see if it opens.

and if it doesn't spread, take it to a good machine shop to have it dye penetrant tested if you want to be sure. I would.

That little threaded gizmo thingy holds the tire on at ~75 mph.......Who here would really trust that one? Especially if the family is riding along

I used this file. I don't remember which thread pitch it was, but that file has it.
