I'm at 147,000 miles New steering rack new old man emu suspension new BFG AT2's new rock sliders all maintance up to date and good until 180k miles excluding oil/filter changes and lube. Only problem is I doubt I could get more than $18,000 for it if I sold it right now. So that makes my current cost of ownership $2500 a year. But my cost of ownership for the next three years will be minimal since all I'll need is oil filter changes And lube. What are you guys experiencing in your ownership

About $26,000 in my 2002 LX470 not counting Taxes.

Somehow the answer feels like too much, and yet not quite enough yet.
There is always something on order.
I can't bring myself to add it up.
But the end result is, it's 100% worth it.

Enough to warrant a divorce if the misses ever found out. She actually asked me last night why don't I just buy a normal car? I was insulted.

I foolishly added it up. 17 months in and I am at $9,500. Includes maintenance (fluids, filters, wipers, etc), repairs (steering rack, fan bracket, ball joints, shocks, brakes, etc), improvements (tires, ham radio, floor mats, winch/mount, hitch, etc) and the purchase price of the rig ($6k).

Over $80,000 in the past 18 years...

Excluding the ~$49K purchase price that I paid to buy it new in '02, I've spent just under $20K on maintenance (including tires) since then (236K miles currently). No modifications. All maintenance either done by Toyota dealer, large independent (i.e. equally pricey) repair shop or express oil change locations. I think the labor component is approximately half of the $20K.

By comparison, I've spent just under $4K over 112K miles on my '12 2wd Tundra since new; almost half of that was for 2 sets of tires. Except for the tires, all work performed at the dealer. Labor cost per mile is relatively similar to the LC; the big difference has been parts - both in frequency and cost.

Purchased march 2016 with 100'000kms and full Lexus Books.

Keep in mind this is Australia so parts, labour and cost to purchase are greater than U.S

A/C air mixer servo motors. Dash out job at Lexus $2k
AHC removal and 2.5" TD suspension install $2500
Valve cover gaskets $900
Serp belt and tensioner $250
Front and rear sway bar bushes $350
Pads, discs and caliper piston rebuild $1200
All fluids $550
General Grabber AT2s $1200
CVs $900

Me : Broke but enjoying clear skies now.

$8k purchase price a year and a month ago. 1999, 221k at the time of purchase, nice condish. 235k now, not as nice condish with a 5 and 7 year old and lots of adventures under the hood... Doing the work yerself sure is good for the wallet...

~$380 for baseline fluids; transmission, rear/mid/frt cases.
$940 for Rock Warriors with 80% tires on them.
~$130 for AFE Dry Air filter, spark plugs.
$195 for rear brake pad service (emergency work) in Greeley, CO. They were SUPER at the Toyota dealership.
~$110 for heater hose T kit from Onur.
~$350? for WeatherTech mats.
~$225 for front bearing kit, grease.
~$225 for rebuilt front brake calipers, fluid, and oem pads.

Plans: Suspension refresh with some 2865's, Bilsteins or oems, new front end, rear bits to snug everything up. Install new U-joints.

Not going to sell ever, this is a lifetime of the truck type deal. Room to work, parts are still around. Doesn't need crazy maintenance. Capable and able to do what we need of it and seats 8 in a pinch!

Bought it last year for $10k, have $10k into it with another $3,000 in parts on the way for my Dissent bumper install. I budgeted $30k for the total build and I'm on track. I might go a little over for an interior refresh (carpet, seat covers, etc). When I sell my '16 Z06 I'm going to get an AEV Brute with a 6.4 and get rid of it though. If anyone wants a zero-corners-cut '99 Overland build, mine will go up for sale in March of 2018. :D

Bought with 170k miles for $9k , and I would say $18 k in upgrades and maybe 4k in maintenance and repairs. Basically way too much over the past 18 months

More than I'm willing to say. Keep all receipts in a shoe box hidden/stored in another box in the garage. Self preservation. It's almost full of receipts and records and might have to get a larger one soon. Don't think I'll ever add them up.

I only calculate the amount saved using my own labor rather than that of a dealer. Thousands without a doubt.

Still a whole lot less $$$ in mine than any newly purchased something (new prices are insane ).
