Hi everyone,
I am wondering how long a 2H takes to raise to "standard" pressure.
Mine seems to take "a slow while".
The EDIC relay is out at the moment, so I can't go and time it, but I would guess around 7 seconds or so.
It's always (4 years + since owning) been like this, but have finally got round to asking here.

I'll get better discreet gauge at some point. Any good suggestions there?

Also, does anyone know if Having the EDIC on a cable is Road Legal here in OZ? !! (last resort really, am building a new relay atm). !!!

oops- I have a 2f, not a 2h, sorry.

The electric gauge is pretty slow- my mechanical gauge pops up almost immediately-
in fact, when I haven't started it in a while and have to crank to refill the float bowl, it'll
register pressure before the engine catches.

Except after an oil change, when it takes a lifetime and a half...

That's one of the places a light is good- it's immediate, if you happen to see it.

what mine does,

Couple of seconds.

Ok, thanks for that - I'll get a discreet gauge.
The mechanical ones being my preference, but not sure of the laws / Road Worthy Certs here, they have changed recently I think, regarding in-cab oil gauges.

Thanks for the replies.

Maybe run a mechanical one that sits under the hood and your regular one in the cab . Its not hard to do, and i trust mechanical ones better myself.

I run my mechanical one in the cab.Reason they are now ilegal is in case line breaks/becomes disconnected you don't want hot oil spraying around the cab. I have run mine inside some clear hose that is secured to the back of the gauge so oil is still captive if actual line comes off.

I am in Brisbane and have had no hassles getting RWC.

Any recommendations for GOOD electrical gauges?

Stckhorse: I like that system you have.
as is an in-engine bay - mechanical.

I keep meaning to get a mechanical one for just looking at the state of the engine...er...like now.

I might go with both.

super old thread relaunch, but back to the OG question, My Mechanical oil guage usually registers in the first few seconds the car is on, but today it took like 1-2 mins to move. Its been -5 the last few days, today it was only like +1. what would cause it to take so long? bad sign?

Check if your running the correct weight oil for those cold temperatures.

15w-40 It barely goes below zero here in the winter. just a freak cold right now. only 3 days of snow we get haha.

Probably pretty close to the temp range for that weight. Just a guess but maybe takes the oil a minute to get into the pressure sensor when it is that cold. Oil must move like molasses until it heats up a little. Would also think it is slow to drain back into the oil pan. Might let the engine warm up a bit before revving much past idle.

cool, makes sense, coldest its been in this truck since its life in OZ :)

Just an opinion - but if that were my engine I'd get a magnetic block heater for those extreme cold temp days. 1-2 minutes to build up pressure is too long IMO.

A block heater for -1? that seems extreme. we had a freak -18 but it only gets below freezing like 1 day a year here. the 1-2 minute oil response so far has been a one time thing. that was why I asked about it. wondering if it was a sign of something bad. or just a response to the cold snap.
